He can act. But when he was doing actual acting back in the day (Gridiron Gang, Southland Tales, Faster) they didn't do that well. But maybe that's changed now
First one was boring, crappy, full of propaganda nonsense with so many idiotic plot holes, that make me laugh so loud But also good music, camera works, cinematic and colors. I really don't care about imbecile Phoenix and this movie. Why does Joker say he's not political? He uses his entire segment on the talk show to make a politically charged excuse for his actions.
hi, dude who was at joker premiere in venice here. generally in venice 4 minute standing ovation is the minimum and means it was a bad film. Every film that gets at least over 10 minutes means it was generally a good film (hype and other factors do play a part). secondly the film itself was not as good as the first however its a good film but it felt a bit held back at times not fully committing to some ideas. some scenes drag a bit and you might feel the runtime. I personally give it 8/10, talked to others who loved it and some who hate it. I think if you like the first you'll like this. Also important to note that joaquin phoenix had a recent controversy with dropping out from another film which might create some bias against him from critics.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and your experience from Venice! Super interesting. Good to know the movie’s still solid, even if it’s not quite at the level of the first. It's interesting to see how the length of a standing ovation can create different reactions. Did anything else stand out from your time at the Venice Film Festival?
Hopefully you can do a review for another scifi called Megalopolis. 120 million dollars budget self funded by the godfather trilogy director Francis Ford Coppola.
What’s your thoughts on the new films via the D23 announcement ? Live action Avatar: Fire & Ash , Tron: Ares, Lilo&Stitch, Moana 2 etc Also does Tron need a sequel to the original 1982 timeline?
Mixed feelings to be honest! The Toy Story 5 concept is interesting but feels like it could have been done a while back. Lilo & Stich could be quite exciting. Avatar could be another really good spectacle and I think the 2nd was good enough to earn our excitement! What about you??
I disagree, they increase the expectation of the film with more marketting, only leading to an increase of potential disappointment, secondly, the movie ends in 2 hrs once you start watching. And once the movie ends, would this be a film you carry on thinking of in the next week? For example infinity war, marketing kept concise, but had other movies to market the film. and the marketting hyped up the film just enough to where your expectations are kept at a moderate level and they exceed it
and marketting in the way they're doing, ie selling buckets, hypes up existing fans MAINLY, and fuels fan service, so perhaps this is made to be a film for the fans and to satisfy their taste buds of watching a good movie cored by the comics, but not necessarily for those new or casual,
"You were always the wrong guy" this actually reminds me of what young Charles Xavier said to Logan in X-Men Days of Future Past "I'm sorry Logan but they sent the wrong man"
Gladiator will beat F1 in $ but has a much bigger hurdle for profitability. It has legacy and a roster of bigger stars that appeal to gladiator 1 fan demo, black demo, young demo and indie film demo (vs one Brad Pitt). But ultimately it depends on quality. If the film itself is good, it's gonna make big bucks and exceed.
