This was great information, thank you. I am leaving for my Alaskan Cruise on the Eurodam in a week. I appreciate the info regarding buffet vs. dining. On the one hand I'm glad to hear that they are serving at the buffet which in my mind reduces the chance of norovirus and such, but know what to expect regarding the time spent in line is good to know. This video is very informative and lets me know what to expect in many very helpful ways. 🤗
As a Nova Scotian who also lived in Quebec City, I would recommend people take the cruise that ends in Quebec City. It is a bit of historic New France culture in North America. Just beautiful! The Maritime provinces are culturally rich and beautiful on the coast as well. If you go to Halifax, take the excursion to Peggy's Cove lighthouse and the Titanic cemetary tour if that interests you. Halifax is hilly! The excursion to the restored 16th century French Fortress of Louisbourg, 30 minutes out of Sydney, NS is worth a side trip also. If in St John, New Brunswick, take the side trip to Hopewell Rocks on the Bay of Fundy if you can. There, you will experience the cliffs carved out from the highest tides in the world and can walk on the ocean floor at low tide. There is so much natural beauty, history and culture. As for fall leaves un Nova Scoria, you can't beat Cape Breton's Cabot Trail. The leaves turn in the first few weeks of October in Nova Scotia. And they can be spectacular, especially the maple trees in orange and reds!
@@dorisbetts3012 Awesome information Doris! My father in law is going to Quebec City next week! We will also be taking this cruise again sometime next month so we appreciate all of the tips :) Thanks for watching
@@Seek.Find.Travel We are going late in the month. We are also looking forward to the fall season. Hope your family has a great time. Thanks for your videos.
@@nealmorris2570 You will have a great time! I know we’re looking forward to it :) We’ve already started trying to eat better now in preparation of all of the food we will be eating lol
We just did a port tips video if anyone wanted to see ideas for the ports ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Co_iZjoKLVk.htmlfeature=shared
@@tinaisbister7480 You’re absolutely right Tina. Will get better at these videos in future. We did another video with a little more details but if you have any questions about the ports ( depending on which ones are on your cruise let me know and maybe I could have some pointers )
Hi there, I went to your RU-vid channel, I like the videos but I see the subscribe and views are very low and monetization is not done, I found some problems in the channel, if you solve them and SEO the videos, the subscribe and views will increase and can be monetized. I'm a RU-vid expert, can do something about it I am waiting for your response. thank you
well as i say.. i was not born with wings or gills... so i will either stay home... or use safe passage as in my car... now if you have your OWN plane, boat... good on ya do that..but i wont risk it personally but there are SOME cruises that offer special rates for certain things... best advise, TRAVEL AGENTS can negotiate prices, also talk to one about FREEBIES, COMPS, especially if looking for gambling, entertainment, make sure theyi know YOUR preferences for entertainment, they can get free casino/slot/table comps, upgrades on rooms, free meals, etc... also around march is one of the better times to find a cruise... and if you search online do NOT wait for last second deals
Hi great video! We are going on the Enchanted Princess in September 2024. I’m wondering what is the weather like? What do I pack? We usually book Caribbean cruises.
Oh how fun we’ve been looking at last minute deals and debating on going in September also lol I would recommend normal fall weather packing which would be layers. Last year when we went it was perfect jeans and hoodie weather with no crazy cold weather. We loved the weather as it was 55-70 every day. Now if you’re someone like me you can wear shorts and a jacket but that’s not for everyone:) I have seen weather is expecting an early fall this year with a colder winter so of course things could change. But with that all in mind we did our cruise towards the middle of October and had that weather so you should have perfect weather. Now this of course is much more different than Caribbean cruise as you probably won’t be sitting and sun bathing lol But what I liked more about New England is it’s more fun for exploring and having good food! Caribbean is definitely better for sitting and relaxing and enjoying the ship and islands. We loved the New England cruise for exploring and being busy but by the end of the cruise we were worn out as we walked a lot :)
For fall trips like this my wife loved to pack scarfs and sweaters as she could always work with layers if it was hot or cool. I felt we did a lot of walking on this trip so I usually had shorts and a jacket on. Items to pack that are possibly different than a Caribbean cruise *scarf *sweater or jacket ( layers) *good walking shoes *cash preferably small bills because when in Canada they tend to take cash and give you change in Canadian currency. *If you love Lobster then you have to get some wither Boston, Maine etc Depending on how many ports you have on your trip it would be good to get a plan in place. Usually on Caribbean cruises there is a chill vibe but on this cruise from our experience it has more of a fun and run type of vibe. Of course you could always skip a port or have more sea days then ours did but usually these have 4-6 ports to stop at :)
I lived in Ketchikan for35 years, grew up next to the creek. Creekstreet was part of my paper route as a kid and also on our garbage run when I first got out of the Navy and was working my first job as a garbage man. Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for the video.
@@rodgerhackstock6622 Definitely an amazing place to see and explore :) Thanks for sharing your background with us sounds like you’ve had a lot of amazing experiences:)
@@kathleenschmidt1489 6041 was great until the last night when they move all the bags off the ship. They pile them outside the door of this room and it was pretty loud.
@@heidi_mcheidiface We definitely all have our own preferences that’s for sure. So wondering what did you not like about the Eurodam? Was it an Alaska cruise or different? It definitely offers a more traditional side of cruising which we don’t mind for Alaska because of the chill side of things and scenery but can definitely see where someone would prefer more things to do.
I loved Holland America until I tried Princess and realized I like a lot of what Holland America offers with a more modern feel and more to do that Princess offers. Now if it was a Caribbean cruise I wouldn’t want to be on the Eurodam at all I would rather be on a ship with a lot more to do maybe something like Royal Caribbean.
@@Seek.Find.Travel Panama cruise was great. Not as exciting for kids I imagine. Passengers are older on this cruise. We chose Eurodam for its size, to be able to go through the old locks. Love Princess cruises - they have the best beds.
There is definitely ups and downs on certain cruises that’s for sure. Which ship did you have problems on? We had a difficult cruise on MSC last year I’m sorry you guys had a rough one on Princess.
@@it1988a that’s no fun, always a risk with any cruise, event or crowd of people especially with food in open air. Hope your wife is feeling better now and hope your next cruise is better wither Princess or any other cruise line. Thanks for watching.
Thank you for your video we are going on this cruise last week in Aug 24 we are coming from London, UK we did Alaska cruise last year and loved it. Would you please guide us do we book any excursions? We are couple in are late 50s, fit walking around
Good morning, since you’re coming from UK I would recommend the excursions that the cruise ship offers. If you’re going to Bar Harbor Maine I would definitely go see Cadillac Mountain! Also this is where the first sunrise of the day starts in the United States so awesome to watch in the morning! If you’re going to Portland Maine definitely got to go see the Maine lighthouse (Portland head light) there is also a way cool potato donut shop in downtown Portland that’s awesome! Rhode Island you could do an excursion of one of the Historic Mansions and do the cliff walk! Public transport could take you or you could walk or do excursion. Boston there is awesome city tours to see highlights or you could do Uber from the port into downtown and walk everywhere! Canada ports we just walked and explored as Saint John was low key but fun to explore (walked to market and shops) but they have some low key excursions to see city highlights sandstone cliffs etc Halifax was very walkable also and definitely recommend going to the citadel! If you’re wanting to see titanic history there is a cemetery there that you can do an excursion to or the maritime museum offers some interesting stuff. Halifax has tons of shops as well. New England is known for lobster and fish and chips so definitely recommend getting some! Going at the end of August should be a very fun time to go :) Thanks for watching!
Thank you for the video! We are going on the Enchanted Princess next September for a 7 day cruise (might be 8). Probably way too early for fall colors, but excited to see another part of the country. We just got back from Alaska on Holland America (Westerdam) and that was great!
Awesome you will have a great time! We actually really enjoyed the New England cruise and are looking at going again because it was so fun:) Alaska on the Westerdam would be fun we’ve always wanted to checkout that ship! Thanks for watching!
Good point about the day at sea to rest and your earlier point about arriving to Seattle a day before. We are from the east coast and definitely need to adjust to the time zone.
Yes the time zone difference hits you in the face on this trip if you’re from central or eastern USA lol Our eating schedules were way off the whole time also haha. Thanks for watching and have an amazing trip :)
My friends, I’m 64…been on 25-30 cruises. Go on one of those cruises that park at Bermuda for 3-4 nights. In incredible community, you will love the visit Live Every Day.🇺🇸👮♀️👍
Thanks for the advice we may look into Bermuda :) 25-30 cruises wow that’s amazing sounds like you’ve been able to enjoy a lot of precious moments traveling! Thanks for watching!
First cruise is always the most exciting :) By day two you will be so relaxed and enjoying it very much! I always recommend bringing some Dramamine as nobody really knows how they will handle being on the ocean until after they’ve done it. Have a great time!!!
Your review is in line with my experience. I was on MSC Seaview a couple months ago. At the end, I swore I'd never do it again. But after reflecting on the price, it was ok for what I paid. I booked another one.
Haha good to know we aren’t the only ones with that sort of experience 😂 We’re in the same boat, after considering the prices we’re thinking about booking again… just with very different expectations 😂
One of the ports you might enjoy on the Can/NE cruises, is Saint Pierre France. Its off the coast of Newfoundland. My mom and I went there last summer. Very interesting history and so cool that it is part of France; the € is currency and they have European electrical outlets. Excellent food here! Some of the 10-12 day cruises stop here.
We are booked on a Princess cruise from Quebec City to Boston. We booked it for nature and culture. By the way, I think the HOHO bus in Halifax will get you close to the Titanic cemetery.
We were actually debating on doing the cruise again this year so thanks so much for the information! If we get to return to Halifax we’ll have to take the bus to the cemetery!
Thanks for the video, we booked I think this same cruise for September of this year on Princess. Mostly, I think like yall, we have done Alaska and the Caribbean and thought it was something different. We figure we will miss he fall colors so we are not expecting that. And I think also like you we dont usually do excursions and just walk a lot at the ports. To be honest we dont even get off the ship at some ports we just hang out on the ship an enjoy the less crowds. Appreciate your thoughts!
We went on a Princess cruise a few years ago on a company paid trip. Since then we have been on 5 more with them as we liked it better than the others we had been on before . Not slamming any other ones but we find Princess to be very consistent, even all the ships kinda look the same inside. We dont want any surprises and thats what they delivery for us. Plus, now that we have moved up in status from several cruises we get some nice perks!
My wife and I have sailed primarily on Princess and have found the cruise experience is consistent no matter the ship. The Princess brand is just the right mixture of relaxation and entertainment. Service is always excellent. It's hard not to choose to cruise on Princess because of this!
Thanks for the comment Bobbyfede. It’s good to know that the experience is consistent no matter the ship as it makes me feel very confident in choosing them again :) We were looking at our next cruise possibilities and saw a couple other brands a little cheaper but it’s hard to not take the safe route and book with Princess :)
@@laurettamedeiros1625 How exciting I’m sure it will be a blast! We’ve only ever done Holland America to Alaska and would really love to try one on Princess, you should let us know how it goes :)
Thank you! I really appreciate your entire Alaska video series and your honest final review. I want to do a 7-day round trip from Seattle and definitely want Glacier Bay included. That narrows down the options and as of this moment, Holland/Eurodam is the choice. Is the service at the buffet due to Covid and for hygiene purposes or to make you feel more pampered? If due to Covid, I am curious how long that will continue or is it just how it will be on Holland ships from now on.
They were serving us back in 2017 & 2019 also so I believe it’s just to pamper you. It really isn’t to horrible or anything just takes a little more time than other cruises. Have you cruised other cruise lines? When do you plan on going? Sorry not trying to ask a million questions just trying to assist anyway I can.
Holland tends to have cruises that pamper you and you feel pretty spoiled after it’s all done. If you’ve never cruised in the past you will love it. If you’re someone who wants to get your food and then move onto the next thing there is usually ways to strategize. You could be there right when buffet opens and be at front of the line or show up maybe an hour after it’s been open and lines are pretty mellow as well. The pizza / salad place by the pool is usually pretty mellow also the hamburger walk up counter can be mellow at times also. But Holland has the free room service also if you’re not wanting to even go to the buffet lol so there is options.
We love traveling on Holland and on Princess and both offer Glacier Bay. So if you didn’t want someone serving you on a buffet you could go with Princess. We usually watch and see which one of them has the best deal before booking.
We plan on May or June 2025. Honestly, we won't mind being served and needing a little extra time to eat. The break from fast-paced society and fast food mentality will be most appreciated. 😉
@@Seek.Find.Travel yes was going to cancel and eat it. It was becoming too much loot. But I would have lost everything. I won’t be able to come back though. Take care
That definitely is a nice feature they offer. There is a lot to like with Holland America as we usually finish each cruise with them feeling really spoiled :)
@@dogthewalker8071 Definitely can understand being hesitant on the service if you’ve never used it before or had a problem in the past. Maybe you could always use an apple air tag if you were worried about your bag being lost? But you can definitely take your bag yourself also if that makes you most comfortable as it would be horrible if they did lose your bag. On our cruise someone told me a story ( on a different cruise line) on how their dads bag was lost in the past so he had to cruise with only the clothes he was wearing:(
Hi Neal, October 21st through October 28th. This video was more of a family video and sometimes is even really slow for me to watch lol This was a pretty fun cruise though
Unfortunately our consumerist society doesn't know how to raise kids properly. The first moment in a child's life where discipline is learned is through eating and that lesson is: just because he says he doesn't like something doesn't mean he gets something else He didn't get a choice when he was suckin on mom's tit either. He eats what is served and what is available and we don't make special culinary arrangements for a 3 year old. Get this lesson right and child rearing becomes so much easier. Get this lesson wrong and you're gonna raise a obstinate child who thinks he's supposed to get and do only what he wants. How else do you think kids learn to eat fruits and vegetables? And obstinate children grow into rebellious teenagers. So best lay the law down now. It's for everyone's good.
Next time you go to Sitka check out The Pioneers’ Home. It’s an assisted living/senior home. They have a gift shop inside with hand made items by the residents. They have a ceramic shop in the building where the residents hand craft the ceramics. Awesome items so pretty. The prices are incredible and you won’t find any handmade Alaskan souvenirs so reasonably priced. Not sure the times they are open but if it’s open there should be a sign out by the sidewalk. All the proceeds go back to the seniors to by the supply’s to make the hand goods. Also go to the Russian American Company
Great tip, we always walk by it but haven’t actually walked inside. Didn’t realize they had handmade souvenirs inside that sounds pretty awesome! We will definitely check it out next time thanks for the information:)
