Growing up in Boston during the 80s, I didn't see him much during his prime years. I knew of him mostly from TWIB, baseball cards and daily box scores. During the 2023 HOF Weekend in Cooperstown, he was there selling autographs. For 10 dollars i got a great auto on a 1980 Topps card and a great 10 minute talk. Thanks Jack "The Ripper".
Let's get Neil O'Donnell in the HOF too... and the Cobra... and Randle El... and Kordell "Slash" Stewart ... and... the mighty John Cangelosi, Junior Gilliam and... and... and... Pete Rose.
If Gil Hodges had gotten a hit in one of these games, maybe Brooklyn would have won the World Series. But then again, this is the (hated) Yankees we're talking about.
I remember thinking What the hell is Yogi doing? Where's Willie ? Berra was not a good manager and I'll always think that he did this because of jealousy. How does Willie not play that game 7 ??? Dumb move Yogi

He signed my dad’s 80th birthday card back in 2016 at a preseason fundraiser attended by several well known Giants. I recall he did it rather begrudgingly. Oh well. RIP.
i can say i saw all these guys play . saw gaylord perry beat Cincinnati on a freezing night at candlestick park. if i remember correctly it was an astroturf field. incomplete park McCovey lost a lot of hr,s to right field. He hit a couple that looked like were headed to the Eastbay until it hit a wall of wind and dropped straight down. mays was still doing mays things at that point.
I was a catcher and wore number 8 and hit with a Mickey Mantle Louisville Slugger bat. Nothing could go wrong. I always hit 10 or more home runs in a 22-game season while in Little League and Pony League ( 13-14 years old).
Jimmy Foxx 0:03, Charlie Gehringer 0:08, Home Run Baker 0:16, Tris Speaker, Duffy Lewis, Harry Hooper (0:24-35), Waite Hoyt 0:40, Ty Cobb (0:45), Cy Young (0:58, left end)George Sisler (1:15 Browns). Ruth greets Cy Young (1:41), Ruth & Larry McPhail (1:52), Al Simmons (1:58), Cobb-Ruth-Speaker (2:11). My best guesses! Anyone know any others, feel free!
''VIVA CEPEDA'' is a latin jazz recording played by the famous Cal Tjader Quintet. It was introduced during a 1958 San Francisco Latin jazz concert. The name of the LP is ''CAL TJADER'S LATIN JAZZ CONCERT'' on the Fantasy label.
When the crowd having a party for McCarthy, also at the Ambassador Hotel, was informed that RFK had been shot, they did not so much as pause but went right on with their party.
The Nixon administration made her out to be crazy when she had more integrity than all those men trying to silence her! She wanted them to do the right thing and that was asking for to much! Sad her husband couldn’t see,but he had no integrity! Man’s world corrupt.
In that magical 1993 season that ALMOST saw the Giants make the postseason (103 wins and watched the playoffs on TV), Williams had a 2-HR game on April 18. The second one came after an improbable four-run ninth inning comeback to tie up the game at 12 apiece. Matty came up against former teammate Steve "Bedrock" Bedrosian, and clubbed the first pitch into the left field bleachers to give the Giants a 13-12 walk-off win, and Candlestick went nuts.
