Another reason is it would open the door for the Giants to move to San Jose and Frisco has lots of issues with homelessness and affordable housing crisis so its not just all about stadiums other issues play into this and while it would create some distance between the A's and the Giants it would still be very disruptive to the area. Plus you would have to build new ballparks that represent the character of the area

Technically "Utah Hockey Club" is a duplicate name as well. The Montreal Canadiens full name is "le Club de hockey Canadien" and their logo is CH for Club de hockey.
The correct pick should've been Swarm. Are the folks in Utah tired of the Bee theme....? Don't they want a cool nickname like "The Hive" for Delta Center during games....? Swarm was my #1. Yeti #2. Blizzard #3, so they still have two chances to pick a good name, though not the best one IMO.

we have to remember team use a lot of misdirection in these situations. they thought seattle was going to be the sockeye and had different colors on their teams website. and even when SJ chose the Sharks, that was not the first option. the fans voted for San Jose Blades 1st, but went w Sharks which was second in voting
Why they even put Utah Hockey Club in the mix of names to vote on, is ludicrous. One, the NHL would not allow it; two, it sounds like a Premier English soccer name. The final 6, only have 2 decent submissions. I would have liked to see the monikor " Bighorns" in the mix to be voted on. It was submitted. Ryan Smith got a bunch of rag tag names, which are blaise. The man knows " NOTHING" about hockey and tradition.
If the team name this coming season is just Utah (or Utah Hockey Club), what will the code in the scorebug be? UT? UTA? UHC (reminds me of my medical insurance company)? What do the Jazz use?
As much as the Utah Yeti doesn't make sense from someone across the pond, Utah Hockey Club is even worse considering they're a franchise. Calling them a hockey club insinuates a membership-based organisation. I just hope they go with the Mammoth.
Part of who the Yankees are is the refusal to alter their traditions. Same uniforms forever, with no names on the back, no facial hair other than a mustache, hairs above the ears. It’s as much as a part of the franchise identity as 27 WS championships, monument park, or the facade along the top of the stadium.
Although I liked the Buzz, I think it sounds like a radio station KBZZ The Buzz all news all the time. Yeti and other like blizzard and snow and ice references all sound like Avalanche. That being said I voted first round Buzz and Yeti. Second round only Yeti!
C’mon Brodie. Yeti would be great, Mammoth would be solid Outlaws rolls off the tongue just like yeti it rhymes with Utah also and Butch Cassidy was from Utah. Blizzard is next they get them in Utah. Venom is stupid and too broad so is the Utah Hockey Club that’s not even a name it’s a title they can’t do that and it should not be placed above any of the others
Yeti. Great team sponsor opportunity here. I kinda like Venom and Outlaws. I could even see them doing like the Rangers with the name diagonal on the front. If you have just a name and no logo. UHC honestly isn’t bad. The Hive could be Delta Center’s nickname.
I'm gonna venture a guess that the circular logo will be for center ice, the wordmark will be for the front of the jersey, and the state silhouette will be for the shoulder patch.
