Just had to watch this when it came up, my channel name is very similar - Seize the Day trip! I'm particularly interested in the heritage along the South Coast as well as the inland waterways so Selsey is definitely on my list for a future day trip :)

So wonderful and important to have an environmentally friendly fishing industry of premium star quality in Selsey , it would benefit greatly having a harbour.
@seasthedaythefishermenofse595
Hi Helen. Many thanks for your comment - I agree fully about the importance of an environmentally friendly and sustainable fishing industry for all those involved. With respect to a harbour at Selsey - this was investigated a few years ago by Chichester District Council, but found not viable for a number of reasons, mainly economic. The crunch point came when the build cost was estimated as between £11M and £20M depending n the scale of the build, and a new up and running marina changed hands for £2M the same year. Loved this, I know nothing about living in a fishing village but I love visiting, so interesting, the smells fantastic and seeing fresh fish brought ashore ....it dont get better, The people that move to a fishing village and complian about the smell??!... there as stupid as the folk that move near a race track and complain about the noise!

Thank you Roland. I'm so pleased you enjoyed the film - thanks for the feedback. I agree on the point about people not liking the smell - as Meryn says, it's a working beach!

Thank you Denise, It's nice to hear you enjoyed the film. I'm sorry to hear your nephew lost his father - the sea can be a very unpredictable and unforgiving place. However, Selsey was looking great in the sunshine today!

Many thanks for your kind comments Michael. It's good to hear that the film means something to you. Not enough local people know much about the fishing industry in Selsey, and part of the aim of this film is to address that.

A very interesting short film. It is a shame that more is not made of Selsey's fishing heritage by those wishing to promote the town. We laugh when we go down to the West Country and they boast about their wonderful seafood. Yes, it is ok, but not a patch on ours here in Selsey! Recently went for dinner in the most famous fish restaurant in Cornwall and I have to say, we were underwhelmed by the crab, and the much feted Dover Sole wasn't a patch on the wonderful fresh fish I have bought in Selsey!

Many thanks Angus. Your thoughts reflect ours exactly. I hope that this film, and the Sea's the Day project in it's entirety, is the first round in celebrating the fishery and as you say, the fresh fish, crab and lobster from the Selsey fishing beach.
