I was hooked on Northern Soul by '74, I was 11. Which led to Scooters (older cousin sold me his series 2 'bretta, he was/is one of the originals) in 76'when I first heard about the Jam, I thought my dream had come true, by the time the revival came along in '79 I was the "Face" in my town.....sort of always been a Mod!

women ,men and children, beaten, murdered and raped for years in this place .Not just staff, but "Visitors " who where allowed free access . Do death certs issued in those days .men would stand at the fences and offer patients ,sweets, alcohol etc in return for sex or touching them etc
My ex worked there in the 80s, I lived in the area growing up. There was loads of grounds right down to the North Circular, I suppose much of it has been built on for housing. Super photos and suitable musical accompaniment.
My Mother's cousin and her husband worked there in 1940's. She was a matron, they were both mental health nurses. I went to Secondary Modern, Holly Park, nearby 1950 to 54 and believe we pupils sometimes went to bakers shop in parade shown in film.
I lived in apartment 253 and I still have fond memories of the place and I used to have a few pints in the bank pub but ive sice learned it has closed down
I'm retired but still ride a modded Vespa, Rode a lammy TV175 (series 3) in the late 60's. Great days then and now. Trouble is, These days I spend more time polishing the chrome than I do riding.

Hi John im very glad you liked the video, yes i do have many great memories of my youth,As for Quadrophenia being shown to students i must agree.Im not sure if most teachers would agree with us,but its a great thought. Keep the faith !!! Andy
What a fab video some great shots, the view down the road with the thousands of scooters and the one of the guy with the most mirrors and lights on his machine. I have never been a mod, rocker, skinhead or any other sort for that matter but I know where you’re coming from and you must have some great memories. Quadrophenia is one of my favourite films; I work in a school and I recon it should be shown to the students of today because it tells a story of values, friendships made and broken. A14U
Walling07 Isn't the only young mod around here either mate!!! In terms of new mod bands, there's a decent little 4 piece in Stoke called Fools Paradise, and a covers band of The Jam called The Jam DRC from Birmingham, they were bloody fantastic when i saw them a fortnight ago. Keep the faith!
I am 60 now and I was a MOD on a Lambretta TV175cc back in the Sixties, with a Parka and your girl on the back off we went to Brighton for a hell of a time. Also did the Isle of Wight festival, that was easy as I lived there LOL. Great times bloody good bike. KorKy
Thanks ever so much for posting this, got here via search for Trevor McBride. I was at school with Trevor, and later spent many hours with him while he was drumming and I was trying to learn guitar. Fantastic to hear him again on this. R.I.P.
