Tips, tricks, walkthroughs, and tutorials primarily focused on Microsoft Power BI, Data Visualization, and Data Storytelling. Content is intended for anyone who spends most of their day building amazing business intelligence tools, captivating data visuals, and incredible designs, whether they spend 99% of their time doing that in sweatpants at home (like Sean) or dressed like an actual grown-up at the office.
Note: I will rarely read the comments on anything I post here. It's not that I don't appreciate your support and feedback; it's mostly just a lack of time between managing my busy day job, multiple Power BI classes that I teach, and making time for family. If you desperately need to reach me or if you're seeking the .pbix file for something I built, LinkedIn is the best way to reach me and I'll do my best to get back to you quickly.
I can't understand how people_fact[term_date] > LASTDATE[Date] returns employees who left the company in the same year, for example, In min 13:26 when you tested the measure, 10 employees left the company in 2012, however the measure calculate the term date that is larger than the LASTDATE, I am so confused :D
What I miss in Power BI is a "lipstick bar chart, where the bars are overlapping and the one in the front is narrower than the bar in the background. I haven't found a way to build it in Power BI, there is only a pricey, external solution available and it's a shame that something that can be easily built in Excel is not available in Power BI.
Thanks a lot! Your tutorial is so detailed and helpful. However, when I tried to do the word count table, I found that the description data still contains data with signs like ;:"', which should have been filtered in part 1. And I am confirmed that I did filter them in PowerQuery. That's so strange.
Hi! Just finished the dashboard. I followed along from start to finish. By far the best Power BI dashboard tutorial I have ever experienced. Amazing... from start to finish you really covered the essentials in a fantastic way. Big thank you from Sweden
I also have a black cat! She hates being picked up though and will squirm if you try so we don't. 😂 Oh, and thanks for the book review, Sean. Sounds like a worthwhile read if it has a unique focus. :D
Amazing Dashboard Designing. Sir I am your Student from Udemy. Sir i followed your Dashboards as it is and really enjoyed. thank you for the wonderful lectures on Udemy. You are really a Gem Sir. I am in this field for one Year. Still upgrading myself and searching for BI analyst entry level job. I learnt SQL, SQL Server Database, SSIS, Power BI, Basic Python, Machine Learning Models. Sir If you have any suggestion for me plz give me.
you are the best Reporting and Visualization export i have come across. This is really a great support to the community from your side. That all the so much valuable information is available via your channel. Thanks for educating us and keep doing such great work. I would request if you can make a project on Power BI with SQL server where data gets refreshed may be monthly or twice a month and the report get updated. May be not free but you may share it with any sort of paid features. etc.
I've always understood that having your layout be a canvas image instead of rending all the individual elements in Power BI itself was an awesome, easy way to get load times down but this takes layout design to the next level. Very cool, Sean. Thanks for posting this.
update, just rewatched it carefully, its a new *customised colomn* if anyone make same mistake as me. Hey Sean, the 'IF" statement got me stuck at the 'Kraken_koffee_fact[hour]' IS NOT AGGREGATED colomn. Even the switch function as well... can you explain how you did that ?
hello is this course same as udemy one? the udemy interface always stuck and youtube is smoother for me.... if its the same i prefer do it from youtube
