Chuck Thompson was usually the lead broadcaster for the Colts but as was the custom then the lead guy did the network broadcast for the Championship games. Ken Coleman represented Cleveland.
I remember as a 14 year old crying when Reggie Barnett intercepted Richard Todd's last minute pass to win the game. I was listening to this broadcast so many years ago...
What an amazing world series, I've been lucky to watch two of the best world series in my lifetime, this one in '86 and the '75 world series when I was a small child
ND could have and should have won this game. They held Simpson to 55 net rushing yards, waiting for him instead of going after him. Scott Hempel missed two field goals, one late in the game, that would have won it for ND.
I love it. Baseball on the radio is what I grew up with. It's the best. We had one game a week on TV. NBC's Game of the Week with Curt Gowdy and Tony Kubek. Radio had baseball daily, depending on where you lived. Learned how to pay attention to the game. Thanks for this gem!
What’s amazing is how quickly the final drive took. Every Patriots fan had seemingly had their hearts ripped out when the Rams tied it up and then in a span of like 5 minutes it all changed. I remember my dad went to bed after they blew the lead thinking they were toast and missed the ending!
I know I watched this after the OSU - UM game, but I had forgotten who won. Thanksgiving always had these two great rivalries back-to-back. What a shame Nebraska bugged out to the Big 10, and now Oklahoma to the SEC. The Big 8 was a good conference in its day.
