It totally depends on what you want to do. The biggest thing to do in North East Bali is diving and freediving, you can also do your open water certificate for a really good price. Apart from the underwater world, you can come here and watch some temples like Tirta Ganga, Royal Water Palace, and Lempuyang temple or you go to the Savanna Tianyar, watch the sunset at Lahangan Sweet, or just enjoy the landscape around Balis Biggest Vulcano. Ubud is more central and offers you easier access to most places. Apart from that it is also surrounded by beautiful rice fields uncountable waterfalls, rich culture, and temples but it's also very crowded.
