Hey Claudia thanks so much for your comment! From my experience, most companies are looking for medical assistants with at least 3 years of experience. I would recommend still applying for opportunities and seeing if you can get a better offer before leaving your current employer. When I took my first offer as a medical assistant it was actually less than what I was making elsewhere but I took it to get the experience and to leave my current toxic workplace. I ended up leaving that job 3 years later with lots of experience and $4 more in pay. If you don’t have time to play the waiting game and want more pay now, I would recommend applying for specialty positions. Primary care will probably pay the lowest so try OBGYN, ENT, Pediatrics or anything else you may be comfortable with. Keep in mind that they also prefer people with experience so I would try to tailor my resume as much as I could with what they are looking for. This needs more likes and views i have seen so many MAs and Nurses come on social media and just vomit all the negative experience more than a great positive outlook in things “bullies” and just •dont go into MA” and “its not worth it.” I dont want to hear that or receive that energy and i havent even finishing my schooling for MA so i thank you and i hope this video reaches to more newbies like me who need a light at the end of the tunnel ♥️
I want to work in an Obgyn office so bad, but all of the ones near me say they want so much experience in Obgyn to work there. Like how can I gain experience if no one will give me the opportunity 😭
Girl I know exactly what you mean! It was the same for me in the beginning but I just got my foot in the door with primary care and the company I ended up working for had several other offices in different specialties which made it easy for me to get experience in other areas. Just gotta find a company to help you get your foot in the door. I promise most of us started where you are so don’t even stress about it.
