Lol this is such an unbalanced comp. For starters - you compared HOAs, why not property insurance costs? Both states are having problems retaining carriers and the premiums are super nuts. Also, the home equity in FL is not going to increase much in comparison to CA. Lastly, the salary difference in Ocala, Central FL vs Reseda, Central CA is HUGE.
Please don't move here. Too many people already have and it's become overpopulated. The infrastructure can't handle all the people and the job market has tanked. Rent is no longer cheap here either. I've been here since 1991 and I'm looking to get out. It used to be good here. Not so much any more.
Compared to other cities in Florida , like Jacksonville for example.Ocala is beautiful in many ways but you will be trading down as far as jobs and many people are still backwards . And no I’m not a libtard but it’s a noticeable trade down .
I was born and raised in Hawaii and I have lived in California and Oregon. Oregon was great 20 years ago, but now Portland and the surrounding areas are basically run by antifa another far left activist terrorist organizations, and the government is totally inept. In my experience, a high cost of living is a byproduct of political corruption and incompetence. I will never live in a democrat controlled state again. Those states are for criminals the wealthy and welfare cases. If you intend to work for a living and especially if you plan on running a business live in a republican state.
I lived in Paradise for a year, on East Flamingo Rd in fact. There are a lot more homeless people there than in Henderson and Summerlin combined and it's not close. Also, a lot more reckless drivers in the area which result in very serious accidents almost daily. In spite of these issues I still love Las Vegas and am looking at a possible relocation to the area again.
Well……how can I say this…….Ocala development is ruining a once lovely town and countryside. We moved from the N.C. Mountains to SW Ocala in 2020. Our nice two bedroom house had a fenced back yard backed up to a quiet greenway that separated our community from another community. We loved living in Ocala but we were alarmed at the disappearing farm land. And we discovered that the greenway as well as a huge wooded area was sold to an out of state builder who announced his intent to build 400 homes in that beautiful wooded area. And the greenway would be the access street to the new subdivision presenting the possibility of 800 to 1,000 cars flying by our back yard. Fortunately we sold our house quickly and moved 30 minutes southwest to the Crystal River area. Two other homeowners on my old street in Ocala are trying to sell their houses as well but the market has changed and it’s probably not going to happen. Since our move last August two other wooded parcels have been announced sold for a total of nearly two thousand units. The traffic in Ocala is horrible especially Hwy. 200 at I-75…….don’t be in that area during rush hour(s). Soo….don’t move to Ocala because you will be disappointed and frustrated. Ocala has sold its soul.
My opinion Florida is the most Rudest State in the country. Florida is number one for problems. Horrible place to live are to raise family. This list you put up not to Accurate. 😊😊😊😊
We lived in Ocala for a number of years and you left out the healthcare! Ocala has GREAT healthcare, major hospitals, specialists and if you need it, Mayo Clinic is in Jacksonville. It lacks nothing for healthcare.
Your channel is the usual BS, that can be literally found anywhere with a 10 second browser search.. Example: Ever hear of REDDIT? zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Ocala = A living Hell, if you actually care about quality of life. if you don't, its Great!! Honestly, After living in thsi place for 5 years, we can honestly say its just AWFUL, in every way If you are... 1. Alive and have any lungs. 2. Care about quality of life 3. Don't want your days looking and listening at people (mostly FAT and wobbling around at 55) preparing for death, complaining about their 'health' struggles. 4. Don't want to drive AT 200.5 mph IN A 25 mph zone, for miles on end. They actually ENJOY this!!! 5. Have any self respect and desire to live, beyond Bingo, tiny dogs and Golf carts at 2mph. Then .....RUN, FAST from this Hilly Billy city, its just so backwards and "RIDDLED" with Old farts. That being said... This Guy is full of BS, as all the online snakes are, looking for some way to "FUND" their videos, BEWARE!
The risk of hurricanes in Ocala is relatively low, however, Ocala experienced hurricane winds in 1928. It was recorded as a category 5 with 1-min sustained wind speeds up to 161 mph and 3-second wind gusts up to 206 mph.
I moved to Ocala from the D.C. area (Falls Church) in 2013. It's nice to be living where the people are generally more open and friendly. The only thing that could be better is the bus service. And why on earth did they stop Amtrak passenger sevice through here and not include Ocala on the Bright Line route being built? We already have the infrustructire for it! Thats one of the things I miss about not being in the D.C. area, they had a great public transport system.
Ocala is beautiful... lived there for many years. However, if travel is important to you.. the closest airports are in Tampa and Orlando. For me, there's more value in living close to an airport.. so Ocala is no longer an option.
Loved your video. very informative. I did not like the note re lack of diversity and implying there is something wrong. there is an ethnic majority in this country and there is nothing wrong with that. people choose where they want to live. Period. You mentioned there is a charm about the town (remember getting to know your grocery clerk?)
