How I work on old EM, DMD and Solid State (SS) Pinball Machine's. I’m just a person doing my own thing repairing my home Pinball Machines and repairing others Pinball Machines. I also recently started doing "Pinball Parts Or Not" videos, this may have to do with Pinball or not but contain interesting things I buy and show you to see if you find my purchases interesting. Wacky Wednesdays really has nothing to do with Pinball mostly but may contain Pinball. Find me on Facebook at Mark's Basement Arcade. PinSnake has been a game changer here. he gets rid of stubborn ball streaks. he also gets a little curious and will find himself stuck if he's not careful. (keep him away from gates)
Great series of videos on the Comet. I have a comet and am anything but technologically inclined! I've changed my playfield to LEDs and they look great. My question for you is do you have any idea why the lights under the corners like the go kart, train station and the duck targets all failed to light up? Are they all connected? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Mark, I have to say your Mata Hari playfield series really intrigues me. When I was in my early twenties, I worked in a place, Sun Electric in the wire department where they did a lot of wire harness assembly of harness like what is on the playfield you are swapping in this video. It is really interesting what you have to do to swap the playfield on this game. I intend to watch your video series in it's entirety. Very interesting. Especially the disordering. I too used to do a lot of this kind of work. I used to find it very highly interesting. Maybe we could get together sometime. Let me know. If interested drop me a note on the chat in your video. T. Check out videos from Chris Hibler and Mr. SolderFix for methods to heat up all the connector pins at once and get it to drop out cleanly. Then remove the solder as a 2nd pass.
shouldnt the bucket (resonator chamber) be tuned to the actual tone's frequency, to make the sound sustained/louder? i mean there should be 3 different size chamber for each rod/each tone. Now why is a simple bucket enough? Video is great, thanks btw!
Thanks for the video. I think my pop bumper lightbulb shorted out. I started seeing the lights dimming all over the place, then smelled burning wires, unplugged it and raised the top, retrieved my fire extinguisher (just in case) and put a fan inside and found the fuse blew. Removed the bulb, put new fuse in and all is good except a lot of my LED light bulbs got fried - yahhhhh me. lol. The socket seemed to hold the bulb loosely and the pop bumper and bulb smelled burned. Do you have a link to the replacement bulb you used? I didn't see anything in the description. It's going to take a while for the burning wire smell to go away - nothing worse than that smell - send panic through my system because of the potential for fire.
I now use non-ghosting LED bulbs Wedge style from www.cometpinball.com/ Here is my new Pop Bumper light fix too. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UFjsb7wzuPg.html
I have seen them on Ballys before, Gottlieb has a hinge too with a cotter pin removed, Williams also has a hinge. Guessing its only to lubricate the gearbox that operates the turning of the stack.
Hi how’s it going?? Was wondering if you have worked on any shuffle bowling machines?? I have a Chicago coin champion shuffle bowler and it resets the pins after I throw the first puck. It does it about 50% of the time. I would really appreciate any help you could give me. Thank u.
I dont have the room to work on them. EM's usually need a good tear down and cleaning every 30 years to make them work correctly. Dirty contacts, sticky parts.
Great video! I restored a blast off as well. My only issue is when I shut game off when it's at 5 balls remaining and turn it on and start new game, occasionally it gives a 9 ball game, as it doesn't step down to zero before counting up to 5 balls. Any idea where I would look to fix this? Doesn't happen every time, so harder to troubleshoot. Also, I'm using for tournaments, so I rigged up a momentary push button inside the coinbox and when you push it, it activates the lower right stand up target, so people can reset the countdown before each game. Makes tournaments more fair - too bad they didn't build it in like you said. Also, mine has a cheap looking lamp-like power cord. Is yours like that - wasn't sure if mine was swapped at some point. Thanks
Yeah this game was a nightmare for me with a bad short I had. I do have schematics if you need them. Email me if you want them, email is in my about area.
