I’m about to get my bachelors in psychology at 42 and now I’m second guessing of having done the teaching credential but I feel so beat now with the last 4 years non-stop and with 4 kiddos it’s just seems so hard to start a teaching journey 😢
That’s awesome for you though! Your degree will be so worth it in the end! However, you can always look into alternative certification for your state. I know in Texas, you do not have to have a degree in education in order to start teaching! So if you decide it is something you really want to do down the road, you can earn your certification during your first year of teaching.
love your colorful walls! i would totally do 2 more groups of 3 vs the 6 group circle and that way every student has a desk and no one feels excluded! groups of 3 still work really great! or do one more group of 4 and one partner group of 2
I tried as many configurations as possible, but there just isn’t enough room for 2 more table groups. The only way I can get them to all fit with room for bodies in the chairs is with the big circle of 6. I just need an extra 5 feet of room and then groups of 3s would be a perfect solution haha
The smiley face labels? Unfortunately I can't because those images are from school girl style, and I do not have rights to share them. But I can put the birthday labels on TPT for sure :)

You’re doing a great job considering what a small space you’ve got to work with. I’ve been watching other teacher vids, and there’s one who’s got a room easily four times the size of what you’ve got to work with.
Thank you for showing this, not a lot people know that teachers have low pay but they're dedicated for buying supplies, doing lessons plans, and setting up classrooms. It's hard work but I love helping my mom and her coworkers too 😊
WOW!!! I'm so jealous. THe state of Connecticut we have np teacher stores. Hobby Lobby had nothing for teachers and neither did Michaels. So, if I want to get decor I have to order online and pray its what I want and that it comes in ontime. Nonetheless, I enjou classroom setup videos to ge ideas, so thank you. Alicia from CT
Hi Ms.Baker! I'm organizing a sharing session at my club and would love to have you as a guest speaker. Your experience in teaching would be invaluable to our members. Let me know if you're available and interested!
Such great progress! I love the colors you’re using. Random: can you drop the info on your glasses that you wore during the first half of the video? They’re so cute!
I also teach with eureka in 3rd grade! I use individual book bins for reach student. I also only send the homework for that night each day. They rip it out after they complete their problem set
Just a suggestion: I would move your kidney/teacher table on the wall with the windows. Move your library shelves to the front under the tv so then it can be used as a library and a meeting area/group. That way if you make columns the students will be sitting sideways to see both the tv and the back whiteboard.
I love that you flipped the rainbow paper. Now it looks gorgeous! It stinks that you don't really have much built-in storage. But you're doing great fixing that with the cube shelves. What is a transformation day?
Thank you! A transformation day is basically where your classroom and activities are centered around a theme. On “glow day” for example, I cover the windows and turn off the lights, and then I put black lights all around the room. Students get glow sticks, show their work with highlighters, and I use neon colored paper for all of our activities. A transformation day can be any theme, and it can be as big or as simple as you’d like. But it is just a fun way to change up the learning space and get kids excited to work hard in the classroom.
I think a three drawer thing under the fridge will be good to put snacks and. A sheet under the fridge to cover the snacks up maybe that rainbow color on the walls rainbow sheet
I’m actually not sure if I talked about those yet or not haha! But they were a target dollar spot find last summer I believe, so I am not sure if they would still have them. However, Walmart currently has the same type of bins in their back to school section. They don’t have the clear color that I have in my classroom but they have a few different color options available!
I’m also a third grade teacher in the DFW area! This will be my first year teaching and I’m excited to start my teacher RU-vid as well once I’m able to get into my classroom. I’m excited to watch your journey as a teacher!
Dakota, I wish that I could have your colorful backdrop but then again it's better off with a teacher who loves and enjoys rainbows without having to live under the boot of any haters. - Dwight
Flipping the paper was a good call. Looks so much better! It's coming together, keep up the great work in creating a wonderful learning space for your students.
I kept all my craft samples and templates in bags like you - (also with the book that went along with them if there was one) in a plastic drop file bin organized by month/season.
I would keep that cabinet if I were you! Maybe you could take it home or find somewhere on campus to store it. It looks like you don't have a whole lot of storage.
Thanks for sharing! Your positivity is wonderful and refreshing! Like you I love what I do. I always try to remember that even when things get rough. Good luck with your channel and your upcoming school year!
I was going to say the same thing! Teacher about to start year 33 here- believe me, those homework books will be lost before Halloween, OR they will jump ahead and work out problems without using the strategies that you haven’t taught yet!
Sorry if you are watching this on anything bigger than a desktop…my Mac was giving me fits this morning so the video quality isn’t the best. I’ll fix it for the next one! Thanks for your grace ❤
