its so different.. i wonder if its hard to clean the sprout, the inside of the metal tube that leads to the teapot. i suppose you can probably use a tea mug/cup to let the coffee flow into the cup directly.. but maybe it might splatter a lot.
That gurgling sound means you should take it off the heat and cool the bottom part.... you are basically destroying your coffee by letting the gurgled coffee getting in with the rest
I very much liked your review . . . . as I very much like my Chicca! I bought mine at the Bialetti store in Florence last October - so glad I did as they seem out of stock everywhere though. Any idea what the correct gasket replacement size is? Also, I too preheat/preboil the water before adding to the lower unit, the porcelain pot seems much cooler when the coffee is ready this way - I think it might help extend the life of the pot by reducing repeated high heat and cooling cycles. Maybe. Thanks for the great review!
Hi Margot! Sorry for the late response, YT doesn't seem to send me notifications anymore. In comparing the two gaskets, I find that the Chicca's is really only a bit thicker but not wider than the standard 3-cup gasket so when I need to replace it I will probably just use a 3-cup one (though I'd be happy to experiment first with it since I have spares - I will be able to do that in a couple months and can follow up then!). I like your tip about warming the teapot first, too, I will try to incorporate that into my routine since it makes sense. Also, very jealous that you've been to the Florence store - it is on my list once I can travel back again! Take care and thank you!
@@cremafrangipane3291 Well, you are spot on about the 3 cup gasket - I had previously written Bialetti USA about replacement but received no response. So then I emailed Bialetti Italy (in Italian) and received an immediate response. Ha! There you have it, not everything in Italy is inefficient- especially when it comes to coffee! So it is indeed the “moka 3 cup” gasket. Here’s part of the response I got in Italian just for the joy of it: Buongiorno, la presente per comunicare che la Chicca è una 3 tazze, la guarnizione deve essere per moka 3 tazze.
Btw. You are supposed to turn the lid after you put it into the tea pot to "lock it in" so it does not drop when you are pouring. So you don't need to hold th elid when pouring. Cheers
Thanks! I do turn it, but it's not really super secure so I don't feel confident tilting it too much. But I also haven't tried any other way so maybe I'll have some faith next time. :)
Oooh, I've never tried preheating the water, I'll have to look into it. I was raised not doing so. I have the Moka Express in several sizes and love them!
