Thanks for asking. I am religious :) and a piece of me also thought it felt better for me because the original lyrics implying that there is no reward for the strife that the narrator (singer) goes through. By lightly changing it, now the narrator's strife will have a meaning/reason. I personally love that idea of story telling.
