Seeing OPs comment "Being able to ignore the Marauder's shield seems unbalanced, can't you make it so that it requires him to be staggered?" I wonder if the new mod support would actually allow us to do that specifically , If someone can confirm if the new mod support allows such AI detection I would love to hear it.
i think a cool mechanic would be a little sword fight and finish him like his axe blocks your sword 2 times but you catch him in the third swing i also think it would be cool if he had a chance like 50/50 he parries the 3 swings and pushes you back, just to keep marauder semi-challenging yet vulnerable to the crucible
I have no interest in playing with No HUD, that's all. And really I'm not that good, I still screw up and forgot to look at my Stacks a bunch of times, which is also why I'm using the Full Racecar HUD Mod.
I have a very heavy PB style so when serious this won’t be big for me, but this mod is to fun to not use sometimes I stopped using shield anyway as it’s boring and op so gives me something for the chaingun once and awhile

Somehow the video have gotten almost 150k views while I wasn't looking, and there's a bunch of Frequently Asked Questions so let me tackle them here. *FAQ:* _Why was this mod made?_ I made this mod in around 20 minutes simply because I found it weird that Marauders have explicitly zero interactions with the Crucible. I would understand if it requires specific timing and/or increased cost, but having the weapon straight up not working against him just baffles me. _Being able to ignore the Marauder's shield seems unbalanced, can't you make it so that it requires him to be staggered?_ I can't. I'm pretty sure there's no way to tell the game to check for specific enemy states in order to execute specific interactions. _Can't you add an animation where the Marauder's axe and the Crucible clash?_ Unfortunately animation modding is still mostly out of reach for Doom Eternal, so no. _How about making the Marauder require 3 Crucible charges to kill with the weapon?_ As far as I can tell, we don't know which part of the game files handles Crucible costs apart from just 1 charge or 0 charge, so that's not possible either. _You ruined Marauders! They are supposed to be an enemy that you must duel!_ This is a community mod, not an official update, so you can simply choose to not download and install it. I only made this mod because the idea popped on my head and I actually never used it when playing since I actually like fighting Marauders and also that I actually never use the Crucible.
I think there should’ve been a healthy medium. You should be able to fight toe to toe against the marauder with the crucible, with timed hits and careful spacing. Or course that would require the crucible to be reworked to not have a one hit ammo system though
My ideal way for crucible on the marauder would be one charge breaks the shield, the second kills him. He is really not supposed to be a boss you can just shove out of your way, so making it expensive for him makes sense design wise. But i know you cant really code the shield break, im just commenting an idea. Still, nice work.
I remember in the earlier trailers that Doom Slayer was ready to throw down with the Marauder with the Chainsaw and I think that would have been the most metal thing to happen in Doom.
It makes more sense for the marauders to use their shield against bullets. and would also be another way for the players to use more energy based weapons to get around that shield.
