This isn’t a bad video in it’s own right, it’s fine you clearly enjoyed the game more then others did but one thing that isn’t being talked about enough is the lack of RPG elements, yes they are there but it’s incredibly bare bones in comparison to other games, there’s little to no customization on the rpg side of things and it mostly focuses on the DMC inspired combat, and I love DMC don’t get me wrong but it’s clear they focused more on that side of the game to the point where it feels like an action game with RPG elements, and that’s not what I expect in an RPG series that’s known for this, it’s not a bad game but understand that’s it’s disappointing to some people for a reason
This FF game is trash. An indy developer could make a better game. I won't buy the next few FF games maybe they will get their stuff together. I'm at level 20 and have no desire to continue the lame story.
If anything this game proved that the _no one hates FF more than it's own fans_ meme is a fact. Most of the critiques of the game don't make sense: _the story doesn't feel like FF because is too dark_ but somehow games like FFVI or FFX having a _dark tone_ is fine. _It's a cutscene fest_ as is every game in the series but now suddenly is now a problem with this one. _Combat is repetitive and boring_ yeah because grinding for hours at random encounter in the old games wasn't _repetitive_ at all. But hey, give it a few years and this game is gonna be regarded as a _misunderstood masterpiece_ just like XIII since apparently that game was always peak and not the boring mess it used to be.
I can live with changes as long as it's fun, but they really should've kept status ailments and buffs/debuffs. FF was always one of the more ailment heavy games during harder fights, so I always saw it as a trademark, compared to other jrpg where you can hoard items like antidotes without ever using them
FF16 just plain sucks. It is the worst RPG ever made. There is no depth at all to combat. it's just devil may cry with shoehorned RPG abiltiies that make it all worse.
Hey there, someone who just beat FF16 like two days ago and I think there is two things people forget about the side quest argument. 1) they are required if you want to get the best gear like genji glove or stuff for NG+ 2) There is a difference between some of the more well crafted sidequests and just getting bread for someone. Which makes sense when you realize Yoshi directed FF16. You know they guy who directed FF14? I don't blame them for not making every sidequest interesting as that's par for the course with the nature of sidequests BUUUT when they are tied to progressing towards unlocking more content, at least give me something more than the most generic fetch quests. I would have much more preferred, less yet longer side quests over the padding of generic side quests. Other than that, I enjoyed FF16, and it finally dethroned FFX as the best FFX for me. Having the game centered around Clive makes sense once you beat the game.
I fucking hate Nintendo I PAID for their online membership and they dont let me fucking play their shitty ass 30 fps games because of my nat type which i cant do shit about and they also gave me no warning or anything before making a purchase for there shitty service fuck nintendo i
The side quests, while arguably "menial" *i do not agree* i feel actually makes it a more immersed feeling. In a world where youre trying to change the world, its not all gonna be heroic battles. Sometimes you just hang out and do some random shit to help those around you. Also, all these dorks complaining are probable just used to obnoxiously vast open world exploration, and while id like maybe a touch more abokity to explore the maps (mostly because of how intricately beautiful they are) theres a perfect amount of explorabilty in every land.
I seriously don't understand, When people are granted 10/10 unique gameplay they criticize on it, senselessly, just because it wasnt like their favourite games
Yeah I'mma let you finish but Final Fantasy XVI abandoned the RPG elements the series got famous for in order to chase a "modern audience" that doesn't buy these games. Final Fantasy XV is a better game, and that's seriously a problem.
Ok so weird conspiracy theory time, but I noticed a huge uptick in hate for this game (even before it came out) around the time Yoshi P said the bit about not liking the the term JRPG because it tries to separate any type of RPG that came out of Japan as lesser than RPGS releasing in the west.
Its funny you showed GamingBritShows review because thats the exact video that made me unsubscribe from him. He outright said he did like 2 sidequests that didnt have the + icon and then none after that and then goes on to complain that a bunch of lore stuff never got explained. Every example he listed as never getting explained I could off the top of my head tell you which side quest it got explained in. He also spent the majority of the review intentionally doing an INCREDIBLY shitty job recapping the story. Like, over half the video is a super bad faith recap of the story that legit leaves out important details and nuance, some of which actively disproves some of his complaints. Plus im fairly certain he was deleting comments that called him out or disagreed with him
Great video for ff16 dicksuckers, not so different from haters just opposite extreme feelings, this game was a very expensive average game disguised as an RPG. It was boring and slow with its intro being a bait and switch.
mario maker 2 is the game that is hurt the most by the subscription You pay full price for basically a demo of the game, and you need a monthly subscription to have the full game! Its just a scam
The really weird thing is, FF15, FF7 Remake, and Rebirth, make many of the same design decisions. Yet these same people, are either silent or seem to actively like those games. So yeah, I truly don't know what's up with the FF16 hate. There are certainly things I think the game could've done better, but the complaints generally make me feel like these people weren't playing the same game.
Jet Li Rise to Honor needs a remake/remaster, Terminator 3 for PS2 needs a remake/remaster by combining ROTM and Redemption gameplay mechanics and concepts and even the stages and add WOTM multiplayer in it and title the remake Terminator 3: The Definitive Edition, Hybrid Heaven needs one, GTA1, London and GTA2 need a remaster, True crime series, Twisted Metal 1, 2 and Head-on in a Similar way as Crash bandicoot: N Sane Trilogy, Super Star Wars trilogy and Episode 1 and Episode 3, Minority report, Killer 7, Jaws Unleashed but have Masjeco publish it and Tripwire develop the remake/remaster, Terminator Dawn of Fate, Godzilla fighting game trilogy, and Spawn Armageddon and In the demon’s hand need a remake. I also think the Ps1 spider-man games need a remaster like Tony Hawk 1+2, Weaponlord (as Soul Calibur 7 with WL guest characters), and Tenchu 1 and 2, and Demolition Man SNES and Genesis versions.
The whole jump button thing is mind boggling to me. Like why is it necessary for a game to have a jump option? If it’s not a part of the gameplay systems then it’s not needed, get over it
The combat is boring because it's too easy. My problem with this game isn't necessarily that the game is bad. It's just mediocre. It seems like every other japanese action game that i've already played. And i have other games in the genre that are actually better in every respect
Ehhh... Realistically the combat is worse than SoP and the FF7 remake titles, 16 is almost as bad as FF15. If you can beat the game half asleep, everything else pretty much doesn't matter. Does FF16 have anything as rewarding as beating Weiss on FF7 remake hard mode? I dont think so.
Id like to try the demo but fucking hell it runs so poorly... the optimization is pure shit. And what annoys me is that i really want to play the game and still cant..
Finally someone that talks about this topic I just played the demo on steam and I never understand the hate for this game For me atletas the demo was amazing
Ok so Ff16 is a great game. However it's flawed game. Square Enix has been trying to do this hack and slash rpg thing for years and with each attempt it does get better, but 1:it's a gameplay style the company arguably perfect already in 2004 with kh2 and 2: 16 feels like a slight step backwards if you've played Ff7 remake beforehand. Which is fair this yoshi p's first attempt at this style of game and for a first run it's not bad just a bit clunky. I think weapons are to numerous for their absolute lack of variety and before the weapon transmog got added I found it annoying to have to abandon a sword I liked aestheticly for something that looked awful but had better stats. Potentially having more weapon types or skills that were tied to a weapon would help them stand out more than just skins with Stat buffs. I like the idea of having skills and weaving them together to maximize damage, but that doesn't help the fact that I end up saving them for stagger phases to maximize damage and thus the main combat can feel kinda bland and stilted at times and honestly I have no idea how to fix that without changing the balance and identity of how the combat system is meant to work. This is an issues I have with ff7 remake, but not to the degree of Ff16. It's not a bad combat system it's just when you've played a lot of games in this style you can easily see it's limitations. Feels restrictive where the KH games and dmc feels free form and loose. Side quests aren't really side quests more like supplements to the main story that further flesh out the world. Which this game does amazing. I think every side quest is worth doing because it adds to the narrative and expands on the world. The side quests help make the game feel like there are other thing going on besides the main story. The character writing and voice acting top notch, no game that came out in 2023 came close as far as I'm concerned. Ben Star is a joy to listen to as Clive and any scene with Byron on it is a good one. Honest I doubt I'd skip side quest on repeat play throughs purely for the writing. Where side quests lack I think is again variety. It's a very unfair comparison, like a dragon games off so many different experiences through their side quests and the writing is just as good as 16's so they give you a break from the main scenario which I think the best side quests do their districtions that you can enjoy separate from the main game. I'd say ff16's side quests are similar to Majoras mask's in that they are meant to appreciate the side characters more which it does well. And let's not get it twist the games gorgeous the icon battles are a spectical not as mechanically deep as the rest of the game but the flash more than makes up for it. FF16 isn't a bad game, but I think it made a choice between being an artistic marvel over being mechanically deep and unless you're really into the arcade aspect of replaying it's levels it's kind of hollow as a game. It's a story I will definitely go back to, but it's very much a "I've gotta be in the mood to admire this work of art" as opposed to "I feel like playing a video game"
FF16 side quests were boring as hell. The reason being that 99% of them are either given by complete strangers or people you know pretty much nothing about, so I couldn't give a rat's ass about any of them. My biggest issue with the game is the lack of Playable Characters/Party Members. So cut the crap with "knowing more about the world". Also the lack of major cities and hometowns for the characters. All you have here are just some villages or towns that are lackluster. Golden Age games like FF6,7,8,9,10 had a huge roster of characters with each having a deep backstory and most if not all side quests were about them. So we had a reason to care. Here It's just one guy, Clive ! other characters barely contribute to the combat. Also, their stories are never really fleshed out. We know absolutely nothing about Jill, other than being a childhood friend. Literally everything else about her is told via superficial exposition, never showing anything. Same thing can be said about literally every character or villain in the game. All of them are bland and uninteresting. And many appear literally out of nowhere. Like Mid or Vivian or.......... Also, ever since (Game of Thrones) what is this odd trend with having a "Hodor" in a game or series !? I'm referring to the big guy Goetz.
The Wii U is also my favorite console. It got really good quality and pretty good games. The Wii U can also be used to play Wii games, not only Wii U games
This video is entirely disregarding the price. For about $7 a month you can get access to 101 NES games (I'm only counting NES games since it'd take an insane amount of time to count the others). Meanwhile on the Virtual Console, to purchase those games you'd be spending $505, what a blunder for Nintendo to make these games cheaper.
