Beyond brilliant....if you live another 100 years and listen every day to this aria performed by the stars of the day, you will never hear it sung as wonderfully as Pavarotti does here.
Lanza sang this Aria 24 years previous on the same stage . Interesting comparing the two performances both magnificent ? Pav's voice was superb this era .

Un'aria struggente e meravigliosa con dei toni sublimi... Il dramma di un cuore spezzato dal dolore di un amore non ricambiato e del desiderio di dimenticare tale amore. Un'opera semi sconosciuta. Un'interpretazione da lacrime... Commovente. Il miglior Pavarotti... Quello che esprimeva il sentimento in musica e che ebbe questo infinito DONO fino alla fine degli anni '80. Chi ha potuto ascoltarlo ha goduto di qualcosa che difficilmente potrà ritrovare.... Se amo e canto la lirica lo devo a lui.... Un ragazzino di 14 anni che per caso si ritrovò tra le mani il concerto di piazza grande a Modena del 1985. Quando i miei coetanei ascoltavano Guns e Roses ecc. io ascoltavo lui desiderando di poter essere un tenore. Ed infatti sono basso baritono.... Grazie ancora Luciano.
