I am going to perform a group install for IBM Installation manager. I have created a wasadmin group and a wasadm user. Which user should I run the install for IBM_IM as? Root or wasadm (assume wasadm has sudo privileges).

One thing I have to add on the prerequisite rpm packages on RHEL 6 for WAS 8.5.5 (Not sure for RHEL 7)before Installation please verify it. Normally it is wont required as they installed by default. But if RHEL not installed properly with required packages it makes you in real trouble. 1- Install the following packages on any hardware platform: - compat-libstdc++-33-3.2.3-69.el6.x86_64 / compat-libstdc++-33-3.2.3-69.el6.i686(Required to run WCT on x64) Required for C++ runtime compatibility; used by such components as GSKit, the Java 2 Software Development Kit (SDK) and the Web Server Plug-ins - compat-db-4.6.21-15 Required by IBM® HTTP Server; some of the modules use the libraries contained within this package - ksh-20100621-2 Required by IBM HTTP Server - gtk2-2.18.9-4 [gtk2-2.18.9-12.el6.x86_64/gtk2-2.18.9-12.el6.i686(Required to run WCT on x64)] Required by the IBM Installation Manager - gtk2-engines-2.18.4-5 Required by the IBM Installation Manager - libXp-1.0.0-15.1 Required by the Java 2 SDK to provide printing functions for graphical user interfaces Without this package, Swing-based applications and AWT-based applications, such as InstallShield for Multiplatforms (ISMP), cannot instantiate. -libXmu-1.0.5-1 -libXtst-1.0.99.2-3 [libXtst-1.2.1-2.el6.x86_64/libXtst-1.2.1-2.el6.i686(Required to run WCT on x64)] -pam-1.1.1-4 -elfutils-0.148-1 -elfutils-libs-0.148-1 -libXft-2.1.13-4.1 Required to install the application server using a user interface. -libstdc++-4.4.4-13 These packages are part of the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 operating system, but they might not install by default. You can also install a later release of any of these packages if Red Hat provides new packages as errata. 2. Platforms that support both 32-bit and 64-bit applications require both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the following packages: compat-libstdc++-33-3.2.3-69 compat-db-4.6.21-15 libstdc++-4.4.4-13 libXp-1.0.0-15.1 libXmu-1.0.5-1 libXtst-1.0.99.2-3 pam-1.1.1-4 libXft-2.1.13-4.1 gtk2-2.18.9-4 gtk2-engines-2.18.4-5 Ck requirements for RHEL 7 on IBM knowledge center.
Thank You and good stuff Asdaq, In most of the cases we will install profile through command mode, it does not give any error if host name is configured properly, You can view the below video to see about how to create profile through silent mode(through command) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-s5eMVogU2T8.html
You can also make the start/stop services command more simple by going directly into {WAS_ROOT}/profiles/{ProfileName}/bin# ./startServer.sh adminagent Similarly for stopServer.
