I make short films of the wildlife I encounter in Great Britain where I live. Most of my films are of wild birds with an emphasis on scarce and rare birds.
All the animals in my films are wild and free and have been filmed without disturbance and with full regard for their welfare.
Hello. Great footage you have filmed there! I make short wildlife fact files and am currently gathering footage for one about pheasants. Is there any chance you would allow me to use a very small amount of this footage in it, if I credit you on screen and in the videos description? The channel has 40,000 subscribers and I expect a video about pheasants would get in excess of 50,000 views (over time). Cheers, Liam.
I think I have 2 pheasant chicks that were sold to me as female chicken chicks. Trying to research how to help them, one is thriving, the other is not. I think she (or he) got too cold.
@@highworthbirder I wish I had known 2 of the 6 chicks were pheasant chicks, but I initially had no idea. Unfortunately, the fragile one didn't make it. I tried everything, including having her inside where it's warmer and giving her a warm water slurry by syringe (honey, molasses, probiotics, herbs, egg yolk, etc, all the things online), hand feeding her (though she had access to seed and chick starter, she would only eat fresh corn kernels and bits of tuna), a mirror so she wouldn't think she was alone, amoxicillin and metronidazole by weight, etc. No diarrhea, no worms, no mites or lice, she was just shivering and not eating or drinking much. Poor little thing, she held on for 3 days inside being cared for, but I think she had failure to thrive because she just got too cold. From what I've read, they need to stay inside for a few weeks longer than chicken chicks because their feathering takes a couple weeks longer. But not knowing that 2 (of 6) were pheasant chicks, they were outside on a couple cold windy days with "mama". I had a broody hen that I bought 6 chicks for so she's actually raising them. I'm just furious that the seller would make that mistake, I would have known they need a longer brooder period and higher protein feed. Hopefully the other pheasant chick makes it, it seems like it's doing ok.....thank you so much for listening, and replying. 🕊💜🙏🏼💪🏼🐤
Thanks Knut. They were a long way away so they were at the limit of my camera and so a bit pixilated. Hope you are OK. Have a great evening. Best wishes, Andrew
Thanks Todd. I'm glad you enjoyed it. The sighting of the Purple Hairstreak was a first for me so a particular thrilling day. I'm very well thanks and I hope you are too. Best wishes, Andrew
Thanks for your kind words Knut it's always good to hear from you. What I found exciting about this trip (it's close to where I live) is that this sighting of a Purple Hairstreak was a first for me. I hope you are well. Have a great weekend. Best wishes, Andrew
