That looked like a pretty amazing tour! I really love the reproductions with human figures, I've never seen that before in a mine. Thanks for the video.
Shes so cool, thank you for the video. Its so hilarious the expectations vs reality. I bought a katana and did cuts myself and I thought it would be easy but it was so hard. I have to learn how to wield it. Excellent video!
Finally ordered my Katana, I have a JJ Gi only, what is the correct outfit for Katana use? Kendo set? Keikogi and Hakama? Where would you suggest I buy (USA)? My Gi would look a bit funny using a Katana, but it will have to do until I am outfitted properly. Great video and love the Dojo! Arigato!
Speak with a local koryu dojo, or speak with an iaido dojo that practices tameshigiri. Hakama and Gi are the standard for practice at iaido, so if you have a kendo uniform already, you can use that.
Thank you tonsofregrets! I found an Iaido hakama set at e-bogu and am all dialed in now. My JJ Gi obi doesn’t work with katana saya at all, and quite dangerous. Finally getting into katana after 30 years of wanting one. Once I get my tameshigiri practice dialed in, I’ll be moving up to a real katana from Japan. Didn’t want to start with a $5000 katana and drop it first swing. But my $1000 Ryujin Ronin is pretty slick for a starter. Thanks again for the info!
Thats what my blackbelts look like w gold stripe and text, so u kno it didnt just ge awarded for seniority , they didnt just start white to black , w right hand sealing katana
My first cut was not so good my second now here on you tube . love this wish there was a dojo here in the SW UK near home. I so want to go to japan one day.
Japanese sword art is such a beautiful discipline. I feel the advent of modern weaponry was awesome but it meant that people don’t pay as much attention to the rich culture that lies behind blades around the world
Excellent video. Have not seen any of Yui's sword videos in a long time. You did very good for your first time. I have heard those tatami mats are hard to cut.
