A channel that is a diary for me to relive my fishing and shooting and hunting trips. These are my personal experiences and I hope you enjoy sharing them with me.
Thanks for sharing your trip to the Ure. Its a tricky river - the best fly water is at the top of the system and it needs two or three good rises for the fish to get there in late summer or autumn. I have had a fresh - ish fish from Bolton in August before, so its not necessarily kipper bashing.
Hard to find anything remotely silver that far up the Ure. The river is i think the 6th Longest river in [UK] at around 125 miles - not sure if that distance includes the Humber estuary maybe add another 30 odd miles if not included ... And its pronounced Yore _ (ure) that far up the system we talking Kippa fishing, fish aint a million miles from spawning area, personally as a salmon fisher my self i think they should be left alone this far up the system esp on the Recovering Ure. Sea Trout are super thin on the Ure not many in the system ive only ever caught one in 44 years ! that looked like a brown to me...just saying
I have the Laxa switch rod in #8 and I love it. Great salmon rod o smaller streams and still enough " flex/nimbleness/softness" to fish for seatrout et .
Nice to see someone do a video of my local river. Definitely a spate river, u need water for it to fish. Fish don’t usually show on the Ure. Come and try during September/ October although there were fish high up in May not huge numbers but they were there I hooked on the blue lion late May and have caught in July and August with not huge rod effort from Bolton and the abbey. For Bolton hall bainbridge gauge 90-45cm, mid river kilgrim gauge 1m-60cm and for swinton Masham gauge 90cm-50cm. Tight lines 🎣
Nice chub Tim!!. Bad luck with the rod though, was it very old??, maybe Guideline could supply new bottom section(s). Nice river better luck next time,Cheers.
I was a good fight too, I was sure it was a salmon. I have started the process if warranty on the rod, it was two years old but it looks likensix days out of warranty. 🥲
There's a guy who has a blog about the beats on the Ure, he knows them like the back of his hand, think blog just one week, he has detailed guide to all the pools and how to fish them, well worth a read if you intend to fish there again. Gorgeous place to be and looked a perfect height to.
Lets hope for a half decent autumn run.. Perhaps that fish judging by its colour change could have been a springer...which is most reassuring. Ive caught them upstream at Lee &Green hall in May. Tight lines safe wading and the patient swing of the fly ( Ared Ally for autumn perhaps) Simon Artley Manchester
Hi great video Paul and congrats to your wife and son. Wow - a 13.5lb salmon is an amazing achievement, what a fish! Sorry that you lost your fish, it happens to us all! I wondered how one can get a permit for this beat as I couldnt see it on fishpal? Looks like some very good water :-) thanks, Ben
I shot my first simulated day in the late 1990's on a well known Exmoor shoot, great fun. They were just starting then. I shot 499 shells and burnt my hand on the fore end iron of my Browning. Please ask the farm manager to get rid of those Ragwort, a highly invasive and poisonous weed. A friend of mine controls Ragwort on the Melbury Estate in Dorset.
Imagine how this river would've fished 5,000 years ago. No pollution, next to no people and salmon of 50lb muscling their way up stream. Sadly gone forever but its great to see a few coming back again.
I fish the Norht tyne a lot. We put them all back now. The numbers are sadly down. Too many seals in the river which arent being removed plus climate change. A sign of the times unfortunately
River Carron is a lovely place alright, but it is below Stirling and far from Highland. Central belt more likely. The river is quite near a village called Denny
I have the blaser r8 saddle the one I have has no inlets on it, it just has the two holes, I'm wondering which picatinny rail to order? I emailed Tier1 and rang them but didn't get a response after speaking with them. Any help would be appreciated.
@@timweston1978 I think mine is the older model. My one isn't the same as the one you have in the video. Any chance I could send you a picture of it? Are you on Facebook? Thanks
