I’ve cut my cigars with a knife plenty of time and still works fine. Use what you need to wither it’s a cutter or a knife and just make sure your only taking off the cap!

Cutting at an angle doesn’t give more surface area for air to flow in this case. It’s smoke coming through not surface area for some other use. The largest surface area you can get is simply the diameter of the cigar regardless of the angle. /sorry for being an ass but made me think about it. Lol
Lots of those scissors won’t do well with larger ring gauges that’s more common now. One of the largest complaints about them these days. Otherwise they’re great below a 46-48 ring gauge. A razor blade tip off a utility knife to carve out essentially a punch style cut works in a pinch when you’ve got nothing around. Better than cutting straight through. Just use the end and a little circle on the cap. Not the entire piece. Works great when I don’t have a cutter handy. My xikar xi 2 has worked perfect for 12 years now.
