Thank God for youtube! What a flippin performance. These guys just totally love what they are doing - and boy does it sound good! I love the Little Milton version - I think he woulda dug this!
Hey Pete, thanks for stopping back in. This particular performance was basically a one-time gig to honor Sly Stone on his 80th birthday. This video and videos from Sly's former band members were sent to to Larry Mitchell (guitarist, producer) who compiled them and broadcast them for Sly to see on his birthday. All of the members in this group play regularly in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and other parts of Texas. They play in their own bands and often with each other. This performance was special because we had Vicki Blackwell on violin, and she was an original member of Sly and the Family Stone in 1974-75. I wish they would get back together for another jam. ✌
