My family were the ones who sold that piece of land to the Texas government the Pena family from my great grandfather and grandfather who sold it to Texas in 1951 and the only reason Texas wanted that spot was because there was already a road leading to that spot from Dias Ordas you can see my great grandmother’s store right at the stop sign next to that white house

@@truchargv my great grandmother’s house got sold like 7 years ago my grandfather’s brother sold it when you come up to the stop sign you can see where it was over looking straight at it my great grand parents got like $215 thousand back in the 50’s that was a lot of money that’s how she paid for house and opened that store she past away in the late 80’s at the age of 96

This is awesome! I could totally watch more of this. I'm so curious about that "island" in the middle of the river. Would that be considered US or Mexican territory? Or is it "no man's land"? 😂
Thanks! We will be doing more coverage on other border towns from the sky! The island was a little confusing, it seems it used to belong to Mexico, but now it seems to be under U.S territory, this could potentially have changed.
I got a chance to visit Grind Coffee Co twice while in South Texas in July. Great place, with awesome staff, and a comfy atmosphere for meetings or individual work. My daughter gave a thumbs up on the hot chocolate! I was able to enjoy a couple of different teas. I look forward to going back once I'm back in South Texas!
Love to see cool stuff like this! Not my style, per se, but I love the ingenuity and dedication they're showing, and I appreciate them bringing something new and different to the Valley.
