Excellent documentary. Lots of food for thought. One troubling impression: this tragic tale is one more consequence of my country's unsettled, tortured racial history. Thomas's appointment following Marshall's retirement resonates for me like Trump's election following Obama's.
Them saying “nobody wants to die” is false. Some people actually look forward to the day where their pain and suffering is finally, mercifully and graciously over. I’m a 54 y.o. woman with reasonably good physical health, and I personally believe that it’s everyone’s divine right to being “happy.” For me, simply being physically healthy isn’t the panacea for remaining alive. In other words, if you’re “already gone,” mentally speaking, then all you’re doing is existing… not living. There’s a very distinct difference to be made here. And for the love of God (and I am a devout Christian), I firmly believe in DNR’s for quote, unquote, healthy individuals. Say what you wish. I’m very much against abortion, as I believe it to be a sin; however, I consider suicidal-ideology (chronic) to be a disease, every bit as debilitating as end stage cancer. So, I feel more states need to acknowledge this as a disease and allow adults to decide whether they wish to prolong a life that is perceived to be meaningless and sorrowful.

My heart is breaking for everyone on this documentary, but little Miss Demetria Duncan really does. My heart wishes that I could bring this beautiful child to live with me. She's truly a precious child and she's been through SO MUCH during her short life. I know that she wouldn't be easy, but my goodness, I believe that she's worth so much more than she realizes. I'm praying for her, God will help her, this I truly believe. She really needs some extra love, a lot more patience, and definitely therapy. I see a beautiful person as I'm watching this. The body cam is the best thing to happen to criminal justice in a long time. It can't be easy being a cop In the first place, and we have more guns in this country than people. I can't help but wonder how we'd react given the same situation. It's hard to believe we haven't invented a tranquilizer dart that works more or less instantly, especially when the suspect has a weapon that is useless from a distance.
