It all works until I create a new file and then paste it. It pastes a broken version of what I'd copied. No image appears but a few of the anchor points can be seen. Very few. What did I miss?
@ulearntech
@ulearntech 8 дней назад
@LARRYLONGSTRETH use the direct selection tool to remove the unwanted artwork first. Then when ready, either do a marquee selection or Command A for the Mac or Control A for the PC to Select All. Then paste. If you are only getting a broken artwork, it means something may not have been completely selected and copied. Let me know if you need further assistance.

@AliceMoretti-w1y , you need to make sure the colors are saved as styles. Around the time 1:10, import color & text styles... The XD files needs these to be saved correctly as a style. I had accidentally deleted the original comments but some of you had an issue with accessing the 'Export As' Preferences. Some older Photoshop preferences and plug-ins might not be compatible with the Apple Silicon version If you have a newer Mac OS with M1, M2, M3 or later, there is a work-around for this. Here's the workaround: 1. Close all of the Adobe application on your mac. 2. Go to Adobe.com (creative cloud account) 3. Log into your account 4. On the left side is your Apps, select that. And hopefully, Photoshop will appear in the middle 5. Click on the three dots beside the open button 6. Select Open (Intel). This lets you choose to run the Intel version of Photoshop, even on your Apple Silicon Mac ( M1, M2, M3 or later) 7. Now, try clicking on 'Open,' and hopefully it should work!

@batteredwife *OMG! You are absolutely right!* I had to re-watched what I had created, I guess at the time of the creation of the video, I think in my head I did do that (obviously, looking back, I didn't!). I am terribly sorry about that! I no longer use KeyNote anymore, but I believe *there is a tab called 'Audio' around the **01:15** mark in the top right hand corner* . Select your music, or audio clip, then simply drag the audio file to a media placeholder or anywhere else on the slide. And it should work properly. If by chance the audio or video is too large, I would suggest to use HandBrake to compress the audio or video. I have recorded Quicktime videos for instructional feedback to my students which are over a gig in size, and HandBrake would reduce the video size to as small as 70mb. So, it's a worthwhile app that is an open source to compress a file. Once you do that, it would make your Keynote file to process faster as well! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BlDNUl2UXyw.htmlsi=cUUELoPGFtHq-iGc But, RU-vid will compress the file as well when the time comes to upload it. Sorry, I just can't remember exactly, as this was made 3 years ago. Nevertheless, I can look into this further with the audio and grab a spare MacBook with KeyNote later in the day.

Also, make sure you also record in vertical format. On my final note to you, include #shorts in your RU-vid Shorts title and description. @ulearntech
@ulearntech 4 месяца назад
 @alexdavidouski Thanks...you didn't give me any or much context did you? Next time, start with the Word document, that would have been easier to work with! 😀 You can't directly copy and paste an image from a Word document into Adobe Illustrator. Why would you? But, that's all you have, I guess you have no choice. If you can re-draw the logo, the tracing may be it? When you copy an image from a Word document and paste it into Adobe Illustrator, it might indeed become a 'clipped group image', as you mentioned. This means only a portion of the image is pasted into Illustrator, rather than the entire image. For those as per @alexdavidouski but more detail: 1. Go ahead and copy and paste from Word to Illustrator 2. Select the image, and right-click (or release from clipping mask) 3. Open and expand the Layers. Inside you will see the two thumbnails that are white, Path and Clipping Path. Go ahead and select that, click on the trash can (if you click on delete, it deletes the whole layer) 4. What's left? In my Layer, it may say <Group> <Clip Group> and <Image>. There should NOT be any thumbnail that is in white. If so, make sure to remove that. 5. You should be able to see the Image - Make or Image - Make and Expand. Or change the Image Trace Presets in the drop-down menu.

As an illustrator user, why is this better for mocking up sofware?
@ulearntech
@ulearntech 4 месяца назад
That's a great question! While Balsamiq Wireframes may seem tailored for software wireframes, its simplicity and ease of use make it versatile for various design projects. Unlike Illustrator, Balsamiq focuses specifically on wireframing, allowing you to quickly sketch out ideas and iterate on them efficiently. Its library of UI components and drag-and-drop functionality streamline the process, making it ideal for visualizing software interfaces, user flows, and interactions. Plus, its collaborative features enable teams to work together seamlessly on prototyping projects. Lo-fi wireframes play a crucial role in the design process for several reasons. Lo-fi wireframes are essential because they facilitate rapid iteration, aid in conceptualization and communication, prioritize user centered design, saves time and resources, and foster collaboration. They are a valuable starting point in the design process, allowing for efficient exploration and validation of design ideas before diving into detailed visual design. Give it a try, and you might discover its value extends beyond just software mockups! And thanks for watching!

Thanks for this tutorial! I’m new to illustrator - Will this work with a scanned piece of artwork (a drawing of a figure on a bench) or are those sorts of shapes too complicated for auto trace?

It sure will. In that case, I would change the image type from black and white logo to High Fidelity Photo to give you a better perspective. Granted, there are other possibilities you can attempt with too. I have a playlist of learning on Adobe Illustrator as well, to learn the basics of this drawing app. Check it out, and if you think it's helpful, subscribe to the channel as I plan to add more tutorials once I am done with the Figma ones, I likely would circle back to this. Feel free to reach out if you have any more questions or need further assistance. And thanks for watching!

I appreciate your thoughtful words, @abdullahsani4361 As an instructor, I've often wondered if these videos truly benefit. Your compliment means the world to me and reinforces the value of the work I do. It would be an honor if you can subscribe to the channel as I plan to release future videos on Adobe Illustrator once I am done with Figma. Thank you for taking the time to express your gratitude!

Hi @monikacau01234! Thank you for watching the video and I'm glad you found it helpful! Just to let you know, Figma does indeed have a free plan available. With this plan, you can access basic features and create up to three projects. If you're looking to work within those limits, one option is to save your Figma files, delete the ones you no longer need, and start a new project. If you're interested in exploring other options, there are some free alternatives to Figma worth considering. You can try Adobe XD or PenPot, Prototypo to name a couple. ChapGPT 3.5 is also free as well. Feel free to reach out if you have any more questions or need further assistance!

Do I need to have a paid version to able to edit/tweak the generated UI afterwards?

The best part is, you do not. If by chance you are in any educational cohort, you could apply for an education user which allows you to have I believe unlimited collaborations. The free version only allows three. Do you need to apply with an education email? I know some of my students did NOT, they used their Gmail account. I can't confirm that because I can't remember that. Go to figma.com/education
