Make sure you leave the passwords to your account. My father-in-law didn't, & we can't access family photos, movies, etc. He also verbally stated he wanted certain things given to his son. His stepmom ignored all his wishes. My stepmom did the same to me 20 years ago. Write it down, & share who you want to get what. Don't assume people will follow your wishes!

A living and revocable trust is also a great option. ALL of your assets, accounts, properties, companies, etc should be listed in the trust (and accounts should be named to the trust) and probate will not occur. If you have enough money to worry about what you're leaving behind, spend some of that money now to save thousands later. Pay a lawyer to write up the whole trust and go through all of your assets to make sure they are covered. You will plan out your debt in your trust and if you don't have enough to pay those debts, you will save your kids money to have it planned out and avoid probate and just pay off the debts you can. Do what you can to prevent those you love from handling a mountain while grieiving the loss of you
