Oh man, thanks so much! I've been trying to learn this song for about two years but couldn't find anything but Angel's live performances and I'm nowhere near good enough to figure this out by ear!
@@JohnMcNicholas Well, What's So Funny... of course, but it'd be great to hear something lesser known like I Knew the Bride or When I Write the Book or Switchboard Susan (or Marie Provost!) too. If you ever do a Christmas show then Christmas at the Airport would be a holly jolly choice.
I've been trying to learn the more complicated stuff - a second lesson would be appreciated! Pretty sure it's more than 1 guitar on the recording, but I've also heard him do a solo version that sounds awesome.
@@JohnMcNicholasBasically just this - the first 5 bars of the intro are just the rhythm guitar, then the lead comes in with a little melody riff. I was trying to figure out a way to incorporate both of those sounds playing it solo acoustic (sorry if that’s a bad explanation!)
Thanks man. This song was one of my go to's back in the early 90's. Kinda forgot about it and the chords. And I do own a 12 string, the one I bought in 1986. Groovy 😮.
Great question! Dropped-D is just taking the low E string and tuning it down to the D below E. Let me know if that helps! Tuning would be "D A D G B E" from low to high.

A very good tutorial, most people don’t even bother with accuracy. I would advise however that instead of a Cadd9, she’s playing a C with a G in the bass, 33201x. And I think the D is always a Dsus2 and never a major. I can tell because she fingers it using just her middle and ring fingers on the G and B strings respectively. You can see this in the video “Good Fortune Live at Big Day Out 2003”. The “B” chord in the chorus is actually a truncated G, 3200xx(00). Also, there’s quite a bit of double-speed (tremolo?) strumming on the C to F sections, and sometimes she plays the F at the 13th position. I haven’t watched the whole video here yet so I’m not sure if you covered that. One last thing, sorry, there’s a *lot* of palm-muting on the verses-a Harvey trademark if ever there was one-which lets up for the C to F sections. I believe each verse is divided into two sections: the first section has the palm-muted A to G parts, followed by the unmuted C to F part, then the second half of the verse has no palm muting at all. It might not be as cut and dry as that, from one verse to the next, but that’s the gist of it. You can hear it on the studio recording, live perfs., and even the demo I believe.
