Charlie has grown a lot in 50+ years that I've been listening to him. I'm a huge Butterfield fan and it always seemed that back in the 60's and 70's Musselwhite was trying to catch up to Butter, but I've since changed my mind as Charlie has been performing all this time. Charlie Musselwhite is great and has certainly paid his dues while never quitting to keep the blues alive and well.
I saw Charlie Musselwhite and John Lee Hooker at Santa Cruz University while on acid in 1974. They jammed together towards the end of the show. A concert I’ll never forget.

Check the Mike Bloomfield bio. It was the soundtrack of my youth and Charlie, Mike, Butter, and the Boys from Big Pink were along for my ride. Thanks one and all, too many to mention, too many roads.
I grew up listening to this man..my dad, uncles and friends would get together 3 or 4 night a week. Played a lot of blues! I listened and learned...I've been playing blues for almost 40 years. Grew up in Rolling Fork Ms, right off Highway 61...Muddy Waters's hometown. I even got to play a little with one of his still living nephews. We had a little half pint we sat on the floor between us, with the cap left off. The things we played that night? Oh Lawd'...this man is a legendary harp player and that tone is otherworldly!!!
I like your opinion because, me anda my lovely and lovin father until he past away, we listen blues every night, we always share that pasion of the blues, he was the greats dad for me on galaxy i miss him a lot, but i always remember blues night!!!
