Great stuff. Back when railroading up and down the Connecticut River Valley was actually interesting. Great to see my co-workers at the GMRC!! So much vintage stuff there.
Thanks for sharing! My 86 y/o parents just did the trip last month and I'm going from Toronto to Edmonton in a 'cabin-for-1' in 3 weeks. It was a bucket list trip for my wife and I, but I was widowed 3 years ago so I'm going solo.
Sad story with the U23Cs: After LS&I gave them up, they briefly worked for the Wisconsin & Michigan, before getting stored for years at the Twin Cities Arms and Ammunition plant in Arden Hills, MN. Along side equipment the Minnesota Transportation Museum had stored there, they all got told to get out. Then owner of the U23s offered them up for dirt cheap to just get rid of them, and MTM didn't take them up on a single one of the 5. VLIX ended up getting them all, only 2300 seems to have survived, now preserved in Arkansas!
