Great timing for this video with the release of the Rapido BN commuter locos and the soon to be released gallery cars!

Long, long-time ago, got to ride 975 with the yard crew in Mackinac City. Unloaded and reloaded the Chief. All gone now. Everything.

Great stuff. Back when railroading up and down the Connecticut River Valley was actually interesting. Great to see my co-workers at the GMRC!! So much vintage stuff there.

A train headed by a hard-working steam locomotive... that will never get old.

Thanks for sharing! My 86 y/o parents just did the trip last month and I'm going from Toronto to Edmonton in a 'cabin-for-1' in 3 weeks. It was a bucket list trip for my wife and I, but I was widowed 3 years ago so I'm going solo.

Sad story with the U23Cs: After LS&I gave them up, they briefly worked for the Wisconsin & Michigan, before getting stored for years at the Twin Cities Arms and Ammunition plant in Arden Hills, MN. Along side equipment the Minnesota Transportation Museum had stored there, they all got told to get out. Then owner of the U23s offered them up for dirt cheap to just get rid of them, and MTM didn't take them up on a single one of the 5. VLIX ended up getting them all, only 2300 seems to have survived, now preserved in Arkansas!

That is Lanny Hill as conductor and Bob Young as the hogger. I brought some of the last trains over that railroad...
