Dr Bill was an absolute legend. A time where you could tune in to our local bay area flagship station and be privy to a college lecture for free whilst commuting home. Life was good and normal in the this great state one time.

What a tragedy that happened to KGO 810!!! I understand it's a sports station now like KNBR 680!!! I sure miss the late Dr. Bill Wattenburg! I especially miss John Rothmann the history professor as well!!!
.....sadly, this guy was a very good science man, but a poor prop for the voice of mischief that we know as the RethuglicaNazi Party of NO, now overlorded by 45 and his machinations of lies. Always listened to him with regard to science, which 45 and the rest of the goosesteppers DON'T believe in, but he was easily outclassed politically, by numerous other KGO hosts, including Gene Burns, Ray Taliaferro, Chris Clarke, Duane Garrett, Christine Craft, Karel and Bernie Ward---among others. Even Ronn Owens was smarter politically than this knee jerk supporter of the wrong wing. Was always a great listen to hear the KGO All Star Cafe broadcasts when Ray, Gene and Bernie would hand him his lunch on factual history and the politics of the day. Every time. Back before the KGO massacre in December 2011, when KGO was real, a great local Bay Area asset and contributor. To see that great locally built, operated and supported neighborhood friend go down so hard, so fast was unfathomable. R.I.P., KGO NewsTalk 810 & Co., not so much, Dr. Bill Waffleburg.
I listen to the Dr late at night in the 80s and always thought of him as the smartest man I knew. I lost touch with his program somewhere along the way during my efforts to keep employed. I actually worked in Iraq from 2004-08 and was surprised to hear him discussing it. I didn’t know his talk show was still being aired. R.I.P. Sir.
1,000,000x better it sucks for everyone, the women he assaulted, the band he left in tatters and his own career...now left to doing Ducktails live streams to get his music out there.
