Ahh sweet! I have the same fridge (oztrail 80l) but I have a taller tray. Can I confirm with you, the drop height is determined by the rear clearance at full extension?
I just installed a pin at the front of the fridge a few days after this video , locking slide can also be used , but unsure if the come at the length needed for this
@misssummersalt it did turn out ok , it's no mirror finish but done the job Only 2k base layer paint will work I got some made up into a can from my local paint shop, sprayed it and left for 7 days before applying the chrome

Hi. I have a mate that had the 3.8 Commodore motor with T400R installed in a 4WD L300. A local mechanic in Wollongong did the conversion. It would have been the Marks adaptor. The combo worked really well both on and off road except for one problem. Overheating. The standard radiator wasn’t getting enough airflow and I helped the mate install an additional radiator horizontally further back along the chassis. It needed its own electric fan but solved the overheating. Keep up the good work and ignore the negative comments. Cheers.
cheers mate i did get rid of the standard radiator and bought a 3core alloy one with thermo fan which is bigger than standard ,i'll give this ago and hope there are no heating issues , but also checking in with the engineer on a cab lift to add more airflow around the motor, going to get headers and water pipes ceramic coated to try disperse heat in other directions, much appreciate the comment
Just keep plodding away mate. Every bolt and bracket is a step closer to your big national adventure. Yes, the video is a bit boring but full marks for attempting the conversion and being a RU-vid guru. 😊
Use vr vs power steering pump. Remote res its normally on the radiotor on a ecotec and they bolt onto the buick the same other then that maybe even get a rear hump sump for one save ya modifying the one of your engine people make kits to convert buicks into just about everything even if you rear mount rad under tray some good fans and use some stainless piping to some rubber joiners so many ways to do the whole thing and make it work everything will require some modifications but lucky with the old buicks not many of the computers required vats deleted from ecu so wiring it up is simple alls you need is 12v to ecu and fuel pump wiring and then you can use your standard ignition key run it back to the ecu to the start wire basically and it should go without to much troubles
thanks for the info mate , i'll get onto looking for a rear hump, another reason i chose the s1 motor as it has no bcm , save me a lot of wiring/ecu issues
Not boring once you have a van and start thinking how to upgrade it! Make sure to keep an eye out on this channel. The result will not be boring to anyone
What a great project! Not many people go through this amount of effort to create something better. And of the few people that been through an engine swap before not many would have made videos to show how many details are involved. Keep on the good work. And think of how many heads this thing will turn once you got it all sorted and take off.
Thanks Martin , yes i sure do hope it turns a few heads once its finished, I'm just glad i have done this all by myself as the things i have learnt along the way will help in the future while out travelling
No rocket science doing these swaps.. did my first v6 conversion into a Nissan in 1992.. but some are tight fits. Have installed them into Volvo, Toyota, a bmw, one into a forklift, Great conversion into lots of previous 4cyl powered vehicles 👍🏻
Hello mate, appreciate you doing the video. Would you mind measuring the internal dimensions? Bushwakka only seem to quote external dimensions. You seem like a tall bloke, I’m 187 cm, would you mind commenting on how well you fit/how you’d go sharing it with someone else? Thanks again
the outside case is pretty thin, im same height as you and fit in pretty well , id say the internal measurements or mattress size is 200x130cm BUT there is no real clearance between the mattress and the lid so trying to store pillows and bed covers is a nightmare as it doesn't seal properly, also the mattress is hard as a rock, i might do a review shortly
20 years ago 1000hp in a non race or heavily sponsored car was almost unheard of. Seems like alot of home garage guys are getting it now days. Do u think the numbers are real?
We had these Buick engines in our early 90s Commodores and are being used today in our wingless sprintcars and many other classes fukn awesome engine Nice ,🇦🇺
What seats u going with? I test fitted some cheap impreza and realized itl never work without chopping the bases up too much. Found some budget recaros which will mount a little high with all the bumps on the mounting area but should work with some square tube. U still keen on the tilt cab and do you have a date in mind u wanna do the big trip
Just going to get the original ones retrimmed to match the interior, Yes i have ordered the tilt parts and that should be happening very shortly 2025 i want to make a start and head up to the cape but i also want the van at least 80$ compete when delica the world come to tassie
@@tassieunleashedI hate the stock seats maybe you could get some extra foam? Backs abit sensitive thesedays. Mines a skidpig with 4g63t and Max ecu trying to get it to skidpad
