This song has helped me out a lot since its existence. Now I’m 50 and still facing plenty of difficulties. I won’t give up anyway and I always come back to listen to this for comfort. Can’t be more grateful for U2🙏🏻

Scripture speaks of only two types of “Salvation “ , or being “saved / healed;”: 1 the true and ultimate, actual Salvation from sin and death in Adam, for all mankind that are condemned in Adam, Including all curses, judgments, etc, a factual and total Salvation that ONLY comes about via Yeshua and Him crucified and resurrected. Grace, fate, belief, acceptance, knowledge, etc. have nothing to do with this type. Sinful men and women, which is everyone ever created, do not participate whatsoever. “ it is finished“. 2 The kind of “salvation“ that comes about as soon as one is enlightened and made aware of the first type via fate, belief, through grace, acceptance, knowledge, etc and therefore, one becomes “saved / healed “from the darkness and lies of this world, from their own perspective, even though they were already actually “ Saved” from eternal death in Adam under the first type, but we’re totally unaware of it until YA enlightened them. Context will determine which type is in view in any given passage.
And I cannot believe that U2 got it wrong... It wasn't early morning april 4th, it was early evening April 4th. Unbelievable to make that mistake, they obviously didn't do their homework.......
When songs were stories, not just repeating same few words, empty phrases, over and over again...this is also tribute to every little band that didn´t reach fame or heights, but without them bars and clubs would be so quiet and empty. I love this song but have never seen the right lyrics. Bono doesn’t say “did I ask too much - more than a lot?” He says “more than Lot.” Lot is someone’s name. A man in the Bible. the nephew of Abraham. The two men were to split the promised land when they reached it.,When they reached the land of Canaan, Abraham asks Lot which part of the land he preferred - to avoid having an arguement. Lot chooses the very best land, a fertile area near the Jordan river. Leaving Abraham with desert. Lot asked for a huge advantage. Knowing the story gives more meaning to the line in the song. Lot took the part that mattered.
