Hiking, backpacking, skiing, snowboarding, rafting, kayaking, pack rafting, canyoneering, rock climbing, ice climbing videos. Everything but caving because that's on another channel.
Great video! We just got off 2 weeks ago. I noticed how low the water was in your video. I'm impressed with some of your lines. It looked so easy to stay that far right in Upset, we tried on a low flow trip in 2021 but it didn't look that smooth! I can't believe you didn't flip in that hole when you were sideways in a 14 ft!! Thank you for including the side canyons.
Nice overview video. Well done. As a professional river guide since 1967 with 65 runs through the Canyon, I enjoyed your perception of and reads of the rapids and skillful execution of the runs.
This is the best video I’ve seen on the Grand Canyon and running the river. You captured the feel of the river. I’ve watched a bunch and this is the best.
What an amazing trip! And an exciting one as well! I got to do that trip in 2009, and I recognise some of the places from your video. There are so many fun adventures in the side canyons! Very nice work navigating Lava Falls :)
Lol when I was like 13 my tribe took us to Idaho to river raft down this river . We went through the green room flipped fun as hell 😂 the guide lady was apologizing us being 13yr old Rez kids. We thought it was cool as hell😂 not knowing actually how dangerous shit can get
I miss the sounds of the carabiner on the wire. Also, sitting there thinking about the effort and why all those tunnels were dug makes me wonder about the sanity of the human race.
I want to thank you. Done it several times,, hope to do it several more. Your video was excellent. It captured what few videos do,, the awe, the peace, the tranquility. And an apparent right hand run at Wire Fence surprised me.
Congrats on completing your journey! My father, who has been section hiking the AT for 37 years, and I are going to be climbing Katahdin on his 66th birthday. Leaving for our trip tomorrow... Can't wait!
Mosquito problems are not usual. The conditions that create them are an extreme high water in the spring that floods over the banks to create the sometimes ponds behind the banks, Mosquitos love those temporary ponds. The couple of weeks after high water, misery. But high day time temps end the mosquito season in just a few days. Hell Roarers Canyon down stream from Green River Utah? Great name? Named for either the roar of mosquitos or the people fleeing from them. Couple miles down at Mineral Bottom? Often not a one. DEET spray a band across from elbow to elbow over your shoulders and an extra spritz at the back of your head.
@@DerekBristol I’m doing the trail this year and had to come home with a bad back issue, but will pick back up next weekend at trail days. Your videos on the AT were instrumental in my planning and love the way you put it all together!! Going to finish strong in September and head over and do the first 7 sections on the CT… I’ll have a car waiting at copper, come join me for section 7….
Done the trip 5 times,, That is about 5,000 to 7,000 cfs River is very passable down to about 2,500,, lots of rock dodging at 1,600. Done it as high as 25k and as low as 1.7k All were good. Not to worry.
plane to do this part of the trail in the spring but start in damascue fo trail days then go south to hot springs then get off trail can/t take 6 moth off to thru hike so doing section hikes into I coplate the trail
Not yet. Caving is still the focus, but started thinking that since I have more than 2 hobbies that I should keep this second YT channel to capture everything non-caving related. Hope you're well Wanderer. Let me know if you decide to bike pack the CT and need company or support.
I have a two part question for ya… I noticed a shoe change from your altras to hokas…did you like the change?? Your CT vids gave me inspiration to hike it last summer, and now I’m on the books to start the AT march 6 2023… second question is…. What did you do after the summit in Maine???
