I asked at the airport, apparantly the pilot of the yellow Piper Cub was starting his engine by handpropping and when the engine started, the throttle was set too high and the brakes did not hold, and the Cub powered into the Beechcraft. At the time I walked through the hangar, the Cubs prop had been removed for repair.
I'm in urgent need of a new or used manifold for my 5424; Any idea where to source one. Im based in Denmark, but happy to have it shipped from anywhere.
I'm flying down to central america to work on this engine. Apparently it sprung an oil leak near the oil plug, and I've done some research to find that there's a common problem where the alternator mount eventually cracks. I also see there is an aftermarket mount to fix this issue. Do you have any recommendations? The motor is mounted in a 1987 Catalaina 38', and Im wondering what I'll need of if it's possible to make the repair while on the boat, rather than having to pull the engine. It sounds like the gear case cover needs to be removed to weld the crack, then replaced. Can you respond with the correct procedure for doing this? I'll be in a hostile area and want to get it done quickly.
