Well - according to one young “fan” I’m “just some old guy talking” and he is not wrong 😂😂. So with that accurate description here is what I want to do - give you good information about local (to Ashland,KY) lakes and also vacation opportunities (usually PCB or Myrtle Beach area) to fish also - how to get there, boater/kayak access and places you can bank fish. I will also fish and show the baits I am using and what part of the lake I fished. I like to catch fish - any size - a fish over 15 inches is a huge fish for me 😬😬.
Howdy and thanks again for watching - I really appreciate it! Great question - I have 10lb braid and 10 lb fluorocarbon leader on all my rods except for one of my ultralight rods (4 lb fluorocarbon) and the rod I use for the A-rig - it’s 20 lb braid and 20 lb fluorocarbon. Loving the questions - have a great evening! So with that fish it would have been 10 lb braid and leader 😎😎
Hey there - thank you so much for watching, I really appreciate it! Two things I always wear my life jacket and sunscreen 😎😎. I wear a 50 - it’s called “Wear SPF” - it’s $15 on-line. It really seems to work well. I also use a 50 on my face/ears.
Well - howdy again 😊😊 - thanks for watching! That’s a great point and I did try some deeper parts of the lake but no luck. I am still learning that is for sure - this is my 4th season to fish from my kayak so I am on a big learning curve for sure. I have fished from the bank or wade fished my whole life so having my kayak has allowed me access to a whole new world of fishing and I’m loving it. I hope you enjoy the content - welcome to the channel!
Howdy - thank you for watching - I really appreciate it! This was on Beechfork Lake in WV. It’s about 30 minutes from Ashland, KY. The WVDNR stocks hybrids at this lake and there are some monsters. That same day I caught one that was 26 inches and almost 8 pounds. If you are close - it’s worth the trip! Tight lines my friend!
Nice bluegill man. My barefooted 👣 friend i have a question? What a size are your feet 🦶? Do you have any problems with the bottom of your feet 🦶 hitting the kayak 🛶 . I was trying out a pedal drive kayak 🛶 & my feet kept falling off pedal and hitting the kayak 🛶 when they didn't fall off the pedal. My feet 🦶 keep falling off the pedal because of how very very extremely wide my feet 🦶 are. This is why I don't have a pedal drive kayak 🛶 but i want one so bad.
Hey my barefooted buddy - I wear a size 12 shoe - I haven’t had any issues with my feet falling off the pedals. That sucks that you are having issues - if you fish you definitely want a pedal drive, they are awesome. I hope you can find something that works for you - keep barefooting it! Thanks for your support - I really appreciate it!!
@andrewdixon8612 Oh okay you got a good size man . I wish I was a sz12 again cuz you can got into any shoes store & get a pair of shoes even in Walmart . I can't even go to Wal-Mart to find a pair of shoes because they only go up to sz13 . What about people that are sz14 , 15 , 16 , 17 size shoe. My problem with my feet 🦶 keep falling off the pedal is because of how extremely wide my feet 🦶 are . If they would make some wide pedal for people who have very wide feet 🦶 that wouldn't be a problem for me. I have been looking all over for wider pedal but can't find anything. I have bike with very wide pedal on it but the way they are made I can't take them off the bike 🚲 & that company went out of business . A buddy of mine is seeing if he can make Custom wide pedal for me that would be at least 7 " inches wide because my feet 🦶 are 6 1/2 inches wide from my big toe to my lil toe that way I wouldn't have to take off my flip flops 🩴to pedal I could just keep them on . But I still would have to take my flip flops 🩴 off to drive barefooted 🦶 because my feet 🦶 touch both gas and brakes pedal at the same time . I have to look down at the pedal to see where to put my foot at so that I don't have a rear end collection . The big problem that I have for having big very very Extremely wide feet 🦶 with toes that are Evenly straight across. I will always stay barefooted 👣 my barefooted friend . You are welcome my barefooted 👣 friend . I really enjoy talking with you my barefooted 👣 friend . I hope you are having a good weekend buddy .
@@mackjenkins7721 yeah - I’m lucky to have a more regular “big foot” - hopefully your friend can make you a custom pedal. I know you can replace the pedals on my OldTown pretty easy. Have a great week next week!
Man that was huge 21" 1/2 inches. WOW man . Congratulations to you my barefooted 👣 friend . You want to here something ? I was kayaking 🛶 with my 6 boys barefooted 👣 & all of my boys was barefooted 👣 too. I guy on a kayak 🛶 was floating by & said to me ( you shouldn't be barefooted 👣. You need to have shoe on your feet 🦶 . I said to I can't wear shoes , socks , or boots because I have big & very very Extremely wide feet 🦶 & my foot outgrow shoes , socks , & boots . I said if I want to be barefooted 👣 here I can . Just because you don't want to be barefooted 👣 don't mind that I can't ) & he got upset & I said dude just get out of here & leave me & my boys alone because all 6 of my boys was barefooted 👣 too . Me , wife , my 6 boys , daughter , Grandson , daughter in law , my lil brother who live with me , & is son we all are a barefooted 👣 family. Good video buddy thanks you for sharing this video my barefooted 👣 friend.
My choice to start with is a swim bait. I just started with the wacky rig and was impressed with it. A lot of bass kept you busy. Happy belated birthday and tight lines!!
Thanks for watching - I love the swim bait too!! The wacky worm works in so many different conditions that it is a great choice. Thanks for the b-day wishes - just 3 more and I am retired! Tight lines my friend!
Hey Paul - thanks for watching and great questions. They stock (rainbows) 5,500 in October and 5,500 in February. They sometimes stock an additional 2,000 browns - usually in February. So - yes it is primarily a colder month fishery - I love it because I can fish almost year round. Browns have to be 15 inches - my biggest so far is around 12 inches. I’ve caught one rainbow over 12 and when I cleaned it, it had orange flesh like a wild trout so it was a hold over. I have heard of some guys fishing at night down by the dam and they catch some in the warmer months (pontoon with lights). You can catch trout from the bank in the colder months - some of my earlier videos (last year) show the bank access at Greenbo and the water depth readings. Hope that helps - have a great weekend and tight lines my friend.
Hey Mason -thanks for watching - I really appreciate it! Greenbo is a tough lake this time of year - it is very clear and the bass are really tough to catch during the day - most people fish for them at night if that’s an option for you? If you will be fishing from the bank I have some early videos (from last year) that show all the bank spots at Greenbo and the depths around those areas. As far as baits go - I have only caught a few bass from there this year and they were all on a Yum dinger redbug wacky worm - for bluegill/redear this time of year I would go with red worms/night crawlers or wax worms. I would fish in 10 - 15 feet of water for them. I fish the worms weightless and the wax worms on a Popeye jig. Oh - trout would be really tough - they stock them in October and February. They do hold over - fishing deep from the dam at night would probably be the best bet. I really don’t target trout until the colder months. Hope that helps and good luck - let me know how it goes! Tight lines my friend.
I grew up fishing at Greenbo - one thing you can try is sight casting for bass with a night crawler hooked one time through the head - no weight. When you see a bass - just throw out ahead of them and if the bluegills don’t steal it you might get lucky.
Thanks for watching - we went on vacation last week so I unplugged 😊😊. I have been surprised at how many redear I have caught at this lake - they are great fighters! Tight lines my friend!
I’m jealous! I haven’t caught anything that nice. Great to see you having a great time. Had to be one hell of a fun day. Great video my friend. Keep it up.
@@fishlessfisherman1539 thanks for watching - it was an awesome day! I feel very fortunate to have not one but two lakes close by that are stocked with hybrids. Thanks for your support - I really appreciate it - tight lines my friend!
Nice bass, Andrew. I went fishing at Calaveras Lake (San Antonio, Texas) with a War Battle from Desert Storm. Last time that we saw one and other was 30+ years plus. The wind was 15mph... Check my short video and enjoy. Happy 4th Of July you and your Family! 🎣🐟
I was hoping you would get some stripped bass. I use that kinda swim bait a lot the one you got out of tree. Caught all sorts of different fish with it. Another great video Tight lines!!
Thanks for watching - I love free baits 😊😊. Stripers are coming in the next full video - my biggest one so far!! Thanks for your support - I really appreciate it - tight lines my friend!
Picked me up a PDL 106, and I love it. I also live in your local area and fish Greenbo, Grayson, Cave Run, etc. Keep up the awesome videos. By the way, picked up some of the Keitech's and have already caught a few bass with them!
Dude - you don’t know how happy that makes me - welcome to the PDL world, it’s awesome! I am sure we will cross paths in the future - I look forward to meeting you! As you can tell - I love the keitech 😊😊. I really appreciate your encouragement and support - i am glad you find my stuff helpful - that’s why I’m doing it. Keep me posted on your journey - tight lines my friend!
Thanks for watching - I really appreciate it. Two of the local lakes near me stock them - I went to the other lake last week and caught the biggest one of my life - it was awesome! Crazy fighters - tight lines my friend!
Thank you so much - that really means a lot!! I have fished all my life but only from my kayak since Covid - I am having a ball and learning stuff every trip!! I have never been to Minnesota - I would love the summers but hate the winters 🥶🥶. Thanks for watching and I really appreciate your support - tight lines my friend!
Thanks for watching - I really appreciate it! Happy Father’s Day to you also and I will go check out your latest - love it! Thank you for, your support, I really appreciate it - tight lines my friend!
You’re definitely turning into a bass fisherman. Great video and it’s awesome to always have new spots to goto. I hate coming across trash. People need to take care of our waterways.
Thanks for watching - I appreciate it! I have definitely gotten the “bass” bug lol but I’ll still fish for anything that will bite! I was really excited to check out a new location - I have already been back 😎😎. Yeah - trash is very frustrating and I have seen literal piles of garbage left by people swimming or fishing - I just don’t get it 🤬🤬. Thanks for your support - tight lines my friend!
Good video man. That is awesome you found a new fishing spot man & only 1 hours drive from your house too is not bad at all. That was a good day on the water man all of the bass was 12" inches or more. I am doing a lil bit of fishing right now. My wife & 6 boys are taking me out on a Father's day kayak camping 🏕 trip & i am enjoying my self Except for the sunburn especially on my feet 🦶. But for my feet 🦶 there Nothing that I can do Besides put sunblock on them. I can't wear close toes footwear because my feet 🦶 are very very extremely wide at 6 1/2 inches wide from my big toe to my lil toe with very very chubby fat wide toes that are Evenly straight across & footwear are made for toes that are at a 45° Degrees angle so close toes footwear will not fit me i have to wear open toes footwear. I love how you kayak 🛶 barefooted 👣 man cuz i have to kayak 🛶 barefooted 👣 too man. It's so awesome & more comfortable that way. Happy Father's day to you & i hope you enjoy your weekend & be safe out there on the water buddy.
Hey buddy - thanks for watching and I hope you have a great trip! Yes - it is important to use sunblock all over! I always wear 2 things when I am on the water - my life jacket and sunblock! Happy Father’s Day to you too and have a great week! Thank you for watching - I really appreciate it! We are the feet amigos 🦶🦶
Oh wow - thank you so much, I really appreciate it. Wacky worms are definitely my bait of confidence - I went to a new lake a couple of weeks ago and it set up perfectly for them - a lot of fun. Thanks again and I hope you find my videos helpful/enjoyable - tight lines my friend!
Howdy and thank you so much for watching and for the question. I need to start putting what I use in the description - it’s the Gamakatsu round 211 1/8 oz. Make sure you get the short shank hook - it’s awesome with the Keitech paddle tails. If you search using that info the right ones pop up. About $6 for 5 - hope that helps and tight lines my friend!
I love them - I also throw the 2.5 inch keitech if the bait is small. The nice thing about the 211 jig heads is that they work great with either size keitech. The 1/16 oz is great for ultralight - smaller jig head profile if they are being finicky. Let me know how they do for you!
I agree with how you read the bank. I try to toss 2-3 foot off shore. Bass fishing has been ok, but I see my river is finally in the banks and time to do some river fishing again. Great video and keep them coming. Tight lines my friend. 👍🏻💥
Love seeing you haul in some bass but looking forward to you getting back to the river! Thanks for your support, I really appreciate it! Tight lines my friend!
Hey - welcome to the channel and thanks for watching! My biggest so far is almost 21 inches and just over 5 lbs (it was my first spring with my kayak - prechannel days 😊😊). This is my 4th season with my kayak so I am still learning how to fish for bass - it has been a blast. I fish for just about anything - I just love to catch fish. Do you bass fish? Thanks again for your support - I really appreciate it! Tight lines my friend!
Glad you liked it and thanks for watching. I fish a lot of evenings - I’m not a morning person lol. Thanks for your support, I really appreciate it! Tight lines my friend!
Thank you so much for watching and for the kind comment - I really appreciate it. I love getting out on the water and sharing my experiences with others. More to come - tight lines my friend!
I had a bass go after a bluegill I caught. So I threw it back in still hooked and caught the bass. I couldn’t believe it. Too bad he let go. Once in a lifetime. Nice short.
That is so cool - I knew I hooked a small bluegill but I was shocked when it started pulling drag. At first I didn’t know what to think - I saw the bass flash and couldn’t believe it. Thanks for watching - tight lines my friend!!
Man that was a nice 13 1/2 inches bass you got man. It's been a while since I gotten a huge huge fish man. But my kayaking 🛶 & fishing 🎣 was Shorten last year because of work doing the Hurricane 🌀 relief program in Florida last year. Man you should show you taking off your shoes to get barefooted 👣 for kayaking 🛶 man. You are right man we are the 2 barefooted 👣 Amigo. Good video buddy thanks you for sharing this video.
Hello my barefoot amigo - thanks for watching and I appreciate your support. Shoeless until October probably 😊😊. Stay safe - hurricane season is upon us unfortunately. Hopefully it is a mild season. Tight lines my friend!
Thank you so much for watching - glad you found the channel! From your name - looks like I need to check out your channel as well! Thanks for your support and tight lines my friend!
Great video my friend! Multiple species days are awesome. I tried for redear today, but bass kept bothering me. I got the kayak out for first fishing trip. Not sure if I’ll put video out. Wasn’t a great day 😂😂😂
Thanks for watching 😎😎 - I love multi-species days also - so much fun. I am starting to really like bass fishing - I’ve got the bug!! Great to hear you got the kayak out - looking forward to seeing your adventures! Any day on the water is a great day - tight lines my friend!
What a good video buddy. May have started slowly but you made it a good day for you. Especially when you got BAREFOOTED 👣 man. That's what I'm talking about. It so awesome how you like to get barefooted 👣 while kayak fishing cuz i kayak barefooted 👣 too. I have to kayak barefooted 👣 because I have big & very very Extremely wide feet sz15 6E wide feet 🦶 that are 6 1/2 inches wide with toes that are Evenly straight across & i have to drive my car 🚗 barefooted 👣 because my foot Touches both gas & brakes pedal at the same time because of how extremely wide my feet 🦶 are. I have to look down at the pedal to see where to put my foot at so that I don't have a rear end collection so i am already barefooted 👣 so i just stay barefooted 👣while kayaking. I can only wear flip flops 🩴 because my foot outgrow shoes , socks , & boots when I was young & Flip flops 🩴 is the only footwear that will barely and I mean barely fit on my feet 🦶 because my toes are wider than the flip flops 🩴 straps & i don't want to break the only footwear that will barely fit me because I have to special order my flip flops 🩴 because of my big size. Good video buddy thanks you for sharing this video. I really really enjoyed watching your videos man. Please keep up the good work man & keep on rocking the barefoot 👣 cuz i am a huge huge huge flip-flops 🩴 & barefooted 👣 guys.
There’s my barefoot amigo 😊😊 - yessir my shoes are only for launching and landing - off the rest of the time. Sounds like you have a good foundation 😉😉. Spring can be tough - I’m just glad to catch anything. Thank you for watching and for your support - I really appreciate it. Tight lines my friend!!
Man you was catching them out there. Turn out to be a good day on the water for a rainy day that you didn't get. It's so awesome to see someone else that kayak fish barefooted 👣 the same way I have too. Thank you for sharing this video buddy.
Thank you for watching - I’m glad you enjoyed it 😊😊. We are the barefoot amigos - I only wear shoes to launch - once I’m on the water off they come and I don’t put them back on until I return to the ramp 😎😎. Yes any day on the water is a good day - thank you so much for your support - I really appreciate it - tight lines my friend!
