Great Video, Greetings from a fellow Maritimer(N.S.) and VStrom rider(650), looking forward to more 800de content, test drove one last year and think there may be one in my future 🙂!
They are a good on road dirt/gravel tire but as others have said worthless in mud and sand. I pulled them off my GSA in less than 2000 miles, no sideways grip in the muddy conditions…put on Anakee Wilds…(Wilds are great but loud on road) I live on rural property with dirt roads plus dirt mud trails…am curious on the raids though. Good luck be safe!
@@Jacklacasse yea I have the oem tall windscreen on my 800de and it's much better than stock but I still get a lot of buffering on my helmet..so I'm looking for something a little better
Can I suggest. Don’t work on a dirty bike, it only takes a few minutes to clean and then everything is easier and better. You can regrease, clean bearing tops, properly grease chain inside and outside etc.
@@Jacklacasse That's great, was it difficult to install yourself? I am a super novice when it comes to maintenance things. topping coolant and oil change is about all I know how to do. I will be learning the rest as I go for basic maintenance here too.
@@convextlc9767 It was not so bad only thing more difficult is removing the gas line from the tank but theres a few video you can look up that will show you how to disconnect it. Other then that its only following the manual they send you unplug and pluging wires no cutting at all.g
Thanks for the video, Jack. Good to see you able to get out riding. Can I ask what pannier bags you’re using, how you attached them (any mount?), and how you find it working? I’m having trouble figuring out what soft pannier setup to go with on mine. Thanks!
Thank you. The bags brand is wild heart and i bought them on amazon. To mount the bags i've made aluminium rack that fit on side of the bike and i plan to make a video about all the mods i have on my bike so far. As for getting racks to place bags I've looked on the internet and there was none that I like.
It was one of your first videos that made me go on a test ride . I have since bought a 2024 suzuki v-strom 800 DE. And it's the best decision i have made this year. Thanks Jack!
Thank you for the honesty and opening up your life / experiences on the bike .. really cool ! I just pulled the trigger on the Vstom Saturday. Coming in about a week or so - .. basically been riding since I was 16 and 57 now with a 25 year or more gap of not riding . Also an avid fisherman . 🙏☮️
Hey you might like the design and story on this one, its in fench but you might understand(from quebec?) Its made of plastic, but that has its benefits too! I cant bring myself to spend the money these companies want... yet ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-R7ypDouKtIo.htmlsi=6wuCATf0n_ced7m0
Hopefully you can get one the best bike I ever had and rode a few. And as for fuel consumption it depend on what you do. On pavement I got 47m/gal but on dirt less then that but for me I don't mine putting gas so much fun with it.
@@Jacklacasse That is way better than I expected for a 800 motor, but yes, I will let you know in the future how much she pushes once on gravel! Tysm for the answer!
I think it was a week and a half with a small fee because of the difference between the taxes they charged in Australia to Canada. I think it was 45$ extra.
Memory lane. I know the Lovely, little sad feeling. Where are everyone from the past… I agree , it’s depressing to see the deforestation. (kalhygge in Swedish) Its the same same conditions How do you like your new windshield by the way? Se you around/Johan
I really like the windshield offer me a great wind protection and kept bug out of my face lol. And you are so right deforestation is so bad but from what I understood after talking with people there, they had no choice to cut. It was because of a winter wind storm. And the people who were living there before are just memories now.
Hallo Jack ! We got snow here in Sweden a couple of days ago to . Now sunshine and 15 degrees C. (Don’t get Fahrenheit haha ! Too lazy) First ride for me too today 🎉I like my 800de in the same way that you do it seems . We are pioneers with this bike so I’m very interested in detailed videos from your riding and mechanics. Very expensive t those tires. I’m trying tkc 70 rocks and tkc 80 in front. I also bought sheep soft bags from Rhinowalk . They work really good for the price. See you around 👍 -Johan from Sweden
It's a really good bike and now I can't wait to go off road. Sweden looks like a very nice place with beautiful places and people. Have fun riding and thank you for the comment.
@@Jacklacasse to each their own i guess.. i only know that if i have a small 2$ chinese tire repair with me and tubeless tire i can fix a flat..with these tires i can not
i have put over 6k kms in 3 months on my vstrom 800de. its fun to ride, long, short, city commuting, off-road. Their SIRS is pretty good. try 1A1 for city ride. Highway 2B2. Offroad GB1/OFF based on your skills.
A quiet engine/bike is better IMO. For the rider who'll get tinnitus later rather than early in life. For our surroundings causing less grievances as we pass by. .. What a nice dog!
I have seen some use their foot sideways under the tire to help hold it up when installing it back onto the bike. Also saw a guy place a tie-down strap over the seat and down both sides of the wheel and under the rim at 12 O'Clock posiiton (the top). He then ratched the tie-down to lift the wheel up. No straining on his body this way and no need to rush. Takes less than a minute then. The riders I know love the Missions but they are not great for deeper mud and deeper sand. Hard pack, gravel,... and pavement they are among the best dual tires available. There are great for the type of riding I do with my ADV bike. I do my more offroad intense stuff with my KTM 330 XC TPI, 2 stroke enduro.
Thanks for your comment. In my case I planning doing more gravel and dry dirt road and pavement so I think they are gonna be perfert and I wish you lots of fun riding🍻🍻
@Italianborn on website it was safe and I had a great service from them. They answered all my questions by email. But it is expensive around 900 canadian dollars
Excellent tire! I'm on my second set! Great gravel and light offroad tire! Fire roads and shallow sand are no problem!! Superb highway performance too!
I hope you don't plan on riding off road with those tires..for the exact same price you could have gotten the dunlop trailmax raid or anything from motoz..sorry but the trailmax mission is the worst tire of what's available for the same price..
by off road you meant what? gravel and dirt should be alright tho and the price was very good i will try then anyway now that they are on. I will probably do more pave road and gravel. Thank you for comment
@@Jacklacasse this is a 60/40 at best or at worst 70/30😮 onroad/offroad tire, you will do more than fine on gravel and intermediate offroad stuff but not in mud or sand. I am coming off a dunlop raid set and this will be my next set or mitas e07+ dakar. You have selected a great tire.
It is a great tire. Just keep your ego in check and build good skills, and this tire will perform. It's not an enduro tire, though. I have read that due to its hard compound it may fall out in turns in cold and wet conditions.
Thanks for your video with your experience’s with the 800! I’m from Sweden and I bought one last July. I love it ! I’m and “old” guy and hitting 64 I oct so the mix of on and off road is my plan. Now I ordering you ( hehe) to show us how you installed your accessories and what brands you used. You seems to got the “know how “. Looking forward to learn more from you! Best regards from Johan 😊
Nice video !!how does the windscreen work ?, it seems to be the turkish one , i just bought one and i am wailting to be delivered in any moment I am from Uruguay Waiting for another video Thanks
Keep them coming. I'm interested in the V Strom 800R for road use but, your videos should apply. I wish you had shown where you plugged the heated grips into. Thanks!
@@Jacklacasse thank you for the link.. after seeing the price I will do without cruise control. 654 dollars usd.. no way I'd rather spend that money on something more useful like new boots and riding gear
