Canoe is like car, First you need to move it fast on the first gear, then top gear to the finish. The better technique the faster you will go. Canoe should smoothly glide on the water, not constantly dive, thats the main target for good technique.
also a great tip is to start steering when you feel that the boat is going to turn not when it's turned , you just have to padle a lot in the boat till you can feel the movement.
The key to going straight is to have proper strokes. Like the ones in the video, body twisting, arm reaching out and a quick recovery. While the paddle is in the water, you can twist in such a way that it is a temporary rudder. For example if you are rowing on your left and the boat is moving to the right, as you do your stroke, twist the paddle so it can rudder the boat back. I do it for only a few milisec over a few strokes. If u are goin to the left, paddle farther away from the boat.
Somebody help me! I have the pair race next month My position is to steer But we can not go straight;-) How to stroke to straight? And how to row speedy? Somebody tell me
