im pretty sure he fell not because he was pushed or abandoned the takedown, i think eddie popped him on the side of the head as he was coming in for the takedown, giving him chicken legs and when he threw his body into an uppercut his legs were just unresponsive and he flew
Okay I think I figured it out after watching and pausing a million times. The combo of Justin losing the leg while throwing an uppercut and being pushing slightly made it look like he glitched backwards.
Eddie is so underrated because he got clowned by McGregor. That was an embarrasing performance to be sure, but outside that he had an incredible career: won the Bellator strap, won the UFC strap. Made godamn Gaethje shoot for a takedown lol
