This is not a sanctuary. It does not benefit the elephants to have all those people crowding around grabbing at them. In fact it stresses them. These elephants only tolerate this because they have been "broken" as you call it and do not fight back. The only elephant sanctuary in Chiangmai is Elephant Nature Park. Yes, YOU should have done your homework so you don't participate in cruelty.
Hi June 👋. Thanks for your comments. We'd love to hear about your experience at Elephant Nature Park and how it compares to the experience portrayed in this video. From what we saw, the elephants at Elephant Jungle Sanctuary are rescued elephants that are given a new home and a chance to have positive interactions with humans. There were no chains or artifacts of imprisonment. The elephants roamed freely throughout the preserve and only approached our group because we had food and they liked getting bathed. I saw no signs of distress on any of the elephants. In fact, they seemed quite happy as we fed them and interacted with them, flapping their ears and playfully reaching out with their trunks. It could just be tourist naivety, but our experience was quite positive.
I would rather hear the elephants, and hear the water, and hear the people enjoying the experience, and hear nature, than hear a random song. The "You are there" factor is not the same when the sound from the event is not there. No one in the video has headphones on, because no one in the video wants to hear music. Neither do I. Please re-post without music. Thank you.
Thank you for the feedback! Yes, hearing the video without music would give the viewer a different sensation. Some would say more immersive. We edited this video as a fun way to share the experience with our viewers. We'll definitely take your insight into consideration and in the meantime, you can find the full article with videos at www.traveltoescapereality.com/thailandblog/chiangmai-nina
Fascinating!! So much history! The monument at 04:03 brings to mind not only Vasco da Gama but also Ferdinand Magellan (Magellan strait named after him)as well as others. Love the aerial views. Well done!!
Yes! The person at the top of the monument holding the carrack is Henry the Navigator, followed behind by figures such as Vasco da Gama, Ferdinand Magellan, Pedro Alvares Cabral, Joao de Barros, Luis Vaz de Camoes and many others.
@@traveltoescapereality No problem. I was lucky enough to live in Thailand for one year in 2018. I made some videos covering the main cultural sites in Bangkok, Pattaya and Sriracha. Feel free to browse them in my channel.
Songkhran and elephants aren’t really unique to Chiangmai. Songkrhan is a national holiday celebrated throughout the country, and elephant sanctuaries are found in most of the bigger towns and cities.
Thank you for watching our video! Songkran is celebrated throughout Thailand and other neighboring countries, we just loved celebrating in Chiang Mai. Same for caring for the elephants... the idea is to share things you can do while you're in Chiang Mai along with an article to help plan your trip. www.traveltoescapereality.com/thailandblog/chiangmaitips
