Not my experience at all. I have a large nursery and banana water is easier, safer, and a more effective bloom stage fertilizer compared to manufactured commercial fertilizer. When you factor the cost and environmental benefits ( no travel , no plastic bags ) it's definitely better
This turned the leaves of my dumb cane yellow. I soaked the peels in water for a week. Strained. Poured in saucer of flower pot. Few days later, the lower leaves were all yellow. My heart broke because it was absolutely healthy and beautiful before.
The ground food actually should NOT be added directly to your plants! It needs to be added to plain soil and allowed to cure (about a month) BEFORE using it in your potted plants. This information is provided by the company.
I dont have many browns but, in my community, theres an area with lots of trees that drop their leaves. I gather up a bunch in a trash bag and now I've got plenty!!!! You can to!!!
I have a very similar model, The raccoons would get into it at least once a week. In order to keep them out I put a screw on each side so that the covers will not open without removing the screw. It does not go through the cover, its just in the way of it opening
For plants to use potassium it has to be broken down in hot compost or vermicomposting. This doesn't get much potassium from the bananas. The tiny amount it does get into the water won't be able to be taken up by the plants.
I am composting in a barrel for first time. Parents stopped having a garden two years ago and have a barrel of compost that has just been sitting there. Should I just empty it out and start from scratch?
Arnt you worried about micro plastics? I made 3 out of metal drums im wondering how long it will take for it to compost. My fins are made from 2x4's and bolts

I have been composting in open pit for decades with less than perfect soil. Just found out that the black walnut tree in my neighbours yard is creating toxins in my compost!!😢 I will be buying one of these composters now.
So do you need a have a period of time where you don't add anything to it just so it can not fall behind on doing its composting? Or can you.continually add to it & just.remove.composted material as you go along?
