An exciting game and good win with some impressive skills. My dad and grancha both played for Bargoed RFC in the twenties and thirties. Grancha (David Jones) was awarded life membership for helping to lessen the slope on the old McDonnel ground. He was a council driver and took me to see home and away matches in the early fifties. Cilfynydd was a fierce rival in those days. I must say the ground and its surroundings look lovely on this video - much brighter and fresher than I remember. I played Rugby at school, and my contemporaries included John Dawes, Dennis Hughes, Elliott Williams and John O'Shea.
Apologies for not responding sooner. With no commitment (and time permitting) - if you wanted to re-tell these stories (to camera), we'd be happy to film, edit and include on the channel, as a possible "History of Bargoed RFC" (just need to rope in some others)
I was at this game and the ground is appalling how did they get an A license is beyond me look at the pitch no where near flat they gazebos and the make shift score board and some of bargoeds fans was a disgrace terrible just terrible
