I can’t believe so few views it’s a shame This is brilliant and Gedda was one of the greatest Most recorded tenor ever when I was younger 200 albums His high notes were unbelievable and nobody bettered his High D in Adams Postillon NOBODY I saw him in Sydney Australia when he was 71 and still great The Greig at the end is flawless
I saw a dear world in Boston, the tryouts and then again in New York because I had a friend who was here and I love the show. I love the music. The last second half of the show was not very good, but she was wonderful and Mila O'Shea was wonderful too bad. They couldn't fix it. It didn't stay open long in New York. I think it was Jerry herman's only failu
Opera di bellezza inaspettata ! Musica da Seicento… lenta, profonda, con archi, e basso continuo presentissimo, senza arie vere e proprie ma con recitativi e ariosi … testo brioso! Stupendo barocco🎉!
A really great tenor. I must have heard him at the same time in London in his farewell concert at Covent Garden. Never to be forgotten! Thanks so much.
This brings back such wonderful memories - thank you, Brian. This is in the Concert Hall, so the sound is very good indeed. Such a golden time in the Australian Opera. Aida, Radames, Amneris and Amonasro were all triple-cast.... something I doubt could be done today.
A fantastic tenor! At 70 still sounding great. I have listened to him many times in Sweden in different venues, concert and operas. His recordings are legendary, both operas and operettas.
Why did we not hear and see this great tenor more 9ften? ONLY AFTER HIS SAD PASDING HAVE WE SEEN MORE? is this because recordings and cds. Have given way to Spotify etc? So sad
Once again Brian ,Thank you thank you thank you. I saw this beautiful man at the Melbourne town hall in the 1990s. .( the front row was the Opera Australia including Bobby Gard). This towards the the end of his career, AND HE STILL HAS IT!! My first favourite from early teens in the 1960s. We have had many tenors rise and good ones, but nobody had his technique sweetness and power like his. I spoke to Robert Gard at the intermission, "What are you doing here Mr Gard ?", I said with a smile, "to see our mentor" says Robert.
Joan Carden was one of the Greatest Stars of the Australian Opera in the 1970's 80's and 90's besides SUTHERLAND..Her voice and acting in all AO roles was GLORIOUS. She also is one of the most beautiful natured diva's on the planet!! I KNOW from experience!!!!!!
Thanks Brian for sharing this.. STELLA AXARLIS was a great Australian voice of our Australian heritage!!!! BRAVA.. Her Tosca In Melbourne for the AO in the 1980"s was DIVINE
Whoa~!~! Thank you SO much for sharing this!! Two of the greatest voices (IMHO). The Pearl Fishers duet as a finale...amazing! They both know how to sing with another person, and when to 'throw in your own style'. Brilliance.

@@alexanderbrown1954 Hi Alex great to catch up with you how are you doing ,l am out in Spain at my house at the moment, with John Trealeaven and Roxie.Thsnks for putting the whole show up. Where are you living now ? I am in Scarborough North Yorkshire..
She is magnificent. What a beautiful rendition of this song - one of Jerry Herman's best. I love how she waits until the end to remind us of Soprano status.
' Mary is a girl and not a fairy ....her name is Miss Gibbs' and that is you told as they say! Delightful Queenie Ashton is charming in the music of Lionel Monckton. His shows which occupy a middle place in style between operetta and the then developing musical comedy are well worth reviving.
I was in the cast of the 1995 Charleston Spoleto Festival production of ‘Der Rosenkavalier’, and Ildiko left us all spellbounded and gobsmacked every moment that she was in rehearsal and in performance.
