I finished both series in my teens.. it still strummed my heart's string when i finished it but since then i recently watched AnoHana and angelbeats so it didn't really affected me much..
I assumed it was because shes still not strong in written English yet. I noticed a couple of times ive seen her hesitate a bit when reading, so kinda figured maybe she didnt know some of the words. Idk if thats the case i hope she doesnt feel too self conscious about it.
I always wonder if it's just because english isn't her first language or if she's actually dyslexic, because people with dyslexia often act exactly like she does (They totally can read, but it's *just* difficult enough to be annoying to do when they don't have to, so they prefer to just not read things that are too long/unimportant). Then again my basis for understanding dyslexia is that I have like, two close friends who have it, and that's it.
She's right too, Mystery Dungeon was aimed at kids primarily and therefore is a very easy read, with furigana on top in the japanese version. In fact, it's a recommended game for your japanese immersion early in your japanese learning journey 🇯🇵
