At one point, I owned close to 70 pieces of vintage Pyrex, I started collecting in 2006, sold/donated all of them by 2010 because I was scared of lead 😢 they’re so beautiful though.
Ah yes, the Toledo scales . They seemed to be in every grocery store when I was a kid . Funny thing , I’ve never looked at what scales are used today . Were Toledo scales ever used in doctor’s offices ? I remember the family doctor having a scale you’d stand on (the platform ), with weights hanging off of it . Maybe that could be a video for you to do . Vintage /antique medical equipment . Thank you for another interesting well researched video . Do you teach courses on antiques and vintage items ? You are a great communicator with great research skills .
Thank you so much Sherry, that is a great suggestion and I'll add it to my list! I did not see anything about Toledo scales being used in medical offices. I do not teach anything on antiques and actually have no formal training, I just love them and enjoy researching and learning about them. Thank you so much for the compliment!❤
Good morning Jennifer. You started off by mentioning the more heavy duty antiques. I really love in my travels when I come across the old tractors and farm equipment that people leave up by the road just so we can see them. Pretty impressive. Toledo scales. They were everywhere when I was younger. The gold standard upscales thanks for stirring up memories friend you really do make excellent videos. 3:27
I think my favorite antiques are those basic everyday things that no one would ever have guessed could be collectible, or be used for decor! Things were made with so much more style back in the day. I also love when people use old trucks or cars, wagons, etc, in their landscaping. Thanks for watching my friend!
@@antiquingadventures I came across an awesome display outside of Cleburne, Texas. An old rusty truck, a windmill a water trough plants. Flowers. It was an entrance to our ranch. Pretty impressive.
Very cool! I would bet most would continue to work for a long time other than maybe needing a part replaced now and then. These older machines were made to last.
Where is the swap meet at i wish i would have known i collected for 10 years 40 totes later still love i want pyrex earrings and tshirts i have a friendship pixie which is my fav i love gooseberry and amish butterprint hoping for pink and pumpkin next
That sounds like a great collection! The meet I went to was in Iowa, but below is a link that has a listing for all the swap meets in the country for 2024, maybe there'll be one near you. 😊 shinyhappypyrexpeople.com/pyrex-swaps-2024/
@antiquingadventures thanks I just found ours in sharpsville indiana not til October usually I work 7 days a week so can't go currently unemployed but hit some yard sales with pyrex always cheers you up
The estate of Elizabeth Taylor had such beautiful jewelry . I’m wondering about fossils , and how much they go for ? I think sometimes it’s not legal to sell them .
That's a really good question. I have seen arrowheads and various taxidermied animals at antique shops but never any fossils, so you may be right about that being illegal.
Quite a fascinating history . I didn’t realize where the name “diner” actually came from . Here I thought it was just the name of the patrons . The dinner ware or the stools or the old milk shake makers are cool .
Thank you for doing my request . BMP sells for more money in Canada 🇨🇦, and is priced high in thrift stores/ antique malls in Calgary, Alberta 😅 . Ironic , since it’s a Canadian made product lol
@@antiquingadventures I think so , plus collectors and resellers up here are onto it . I think many Americans haven’t discovered it yet . That’s why they need to watch your channel ☀️
