Highly appreciate it🤠 Unpretending 3k(and a half!) mmr thoughts regarding this facet: Considering my low bracket and Marci being a not so popular hero - it is pretty common to see players not think around your rebound plays, let alone sidekick. So it is much easier to ask dmg dealers just to rightclick to be golden (or just pray they will do so). Mindful of bodyguard facet being something even more vague to common dota player, it gets really tricky to put it to good use throughout the whole game. Certainly, it gives full solo lifesteal and dmg BUT remains only a half of what sidekick is (minus chunk of armor, but i do not feel the magnitude of 13 armor for 6sec because noobo :^) ). Bodyguard usage demands quite a coordinated plays from Marci and ally which quite often may result in poor performance of this skill. On the other hand, sidekick only needs you two to be in its enourmous range and right-click. Perhaps things are different at high mmr or in groups idk ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ So why bother picking it, complicating things, when you can duo-overheal if there are dds in your team? (you being any pos. well, maybe not carry. but do they really play Marci carry with farm being top priority?) Counter-attacking after your teammate baited and sidekick-healing them while kicking enemy's ass is also not unusual. Perhaps Marci players need a lot of games with according environment to make bodyguard be reckoned with. Anyway it is great that you can now practise "secluded" style to play around with. Though i can't stop thinking bodyguard needs a little something extra ----- One afterthought: considering such common situation in the fight like "crucial need to get healed right here and now". If you are disabled, disarmed etc - bodyguard is of no help. sidekick (if active, of course) healing on the contrary comes naturally in teamfights. But maybe it is out of scope comparison, so i'll just shut up now😵💫
I have been in lower mmr before, I could say it is hard to use bodyguard or even play Marci because it required teammates knowledge of knowing how Marci work. Even some people still dont know that Marci can't jump enemy team without shard and her range at lvl1 is just too short(or when you try to escape, they runaway from you, etc) I would suggest to build fully damage(+bkb) and carry your own game if possible but ofc not being lonely wolf, play around your team. If only pick bodyguard to buff armor is not quite effective, I rather just play Sven support with his op warcry. So that high or low mmr are no different( or maybe I haven't discovered purpose of bodyguard facet yet) I agree bodyguard needs something extra, or at least giving lifesteal during 6 sec to ally. yes, this facet is really good during laning phase or if you play as marci mid/core to solo gank for full bonus dmg and life steal. In the other hand, sidekick scale and synergy really good with heavy attack dmg core, also give you more survivability. Playing as a support I still prefer sidekick more.
This facet kinda fix her lane phase and when her ult is on CD problem but it is really fell off when get into late game (when gets into the big fight it can mess your combo up because it so many click and thing going on), sidekick is more preferable in the most game.
this facet shines best when laning, with its counter attack works just like double dmg on marci. And second best when solo ganking, 100% bonus dmg and HP steal all time
i'm divine 4 now (upon playing only in Marcy offlane) and I would like to know a couple of things from you. First: I think that the most suitable role for Marcy is offlane, not even full support. Offlane allows her to collect items for any situation, rather than mid aganim + bkb + crystalys Marcy or core bf full damage Marcy build. What do you think about this? And I alternate aspects (love to swap between them, although at first I forgot to change them) and start with 4-5 build options. Bodyguard is almost always used if there are no heroes with high attack speed or universal heroes, plus bodyguard is not a late-game aspect, so it is preferable, but I always like sidekick better, maybe because I’m already used to playing that way. Regarding the build, I always have a choice what to start depending of the enemy's draft: diffuse, crystalys, aghanim, armlet and bkb, which I hate to take either as the first or second item, but sometimes there is no other way. What do you think about this?
Past over year Valve has been adjusting her base of her story in my opinion, which cause her to be either semi support or core. It is really depending on how you comfortable as what role you normally play (that's why I like to play her). Marci is good as pos3 but she can't fully tank like other heros choice which team almost pretty much play around her or she stay hidding before fight. Pros about her is itemization that she is bkb and basher user and other than that really depends on what you need, I don't normally go with these stardard Marci's items much(but still awared if I needed) but I want to be creative like using forcestaff as pos3 is also almost equally good as bkb, ofc you need some practice to get use to clickable items. I tend to go for cheaper item and effective. Items order is really simple, get bkb first items if they have heavy CC draft. If they arent or you be able to avoid those CC, goes for other items like damage items(so many choices) but yeah it is sometimes you can't avoid to buying the same items every games and it is tedious. Yep bodyguard is fell off late game because there's many thing is going on and you cant provide lifesteal to core(core cant heal you either), you will often died during the fight or cant stand long enough but you can always get vampired aura to make up sidekick facet
Passive, you get fully buff from skill Basically when you press E to your ally, few things happens. When apply to ally, they wont get lifesteal but armor instead. You create circle around you, indicate the range of counter punch When your ally get hit by attack(right click), you counter one punch back to that target if they are in the circle When your ally attacks target(right click), you punch the same target that your ally is attacking if target is in the circle
fellow marci spammer here (6.3k mmr) you should rly try Bodyguard facet!!! I look at it this way: you get the lifesteal+dmg anyway, its just not shared to an ally when theyre farming etc etc.. but when you DO fight the counter attacks from (being attacked and your ally attacking) is SO much extra hits (dmg) .. yes they loose out on the lifesteal and abit of dmg for the fight, however they do get armor.. (alot actually) it can be a bit more buttons to press, but its no different from the good old using E during unleash with agha for that extra on demand silence .. anyway good stuff always watch your videos as soon as they drop.. thanks for making marci content 🎉
Hey thanks for pointing this facet out, I have seen quite sometimes that higher rank always using even in tournament. This made me give it another look and try to understand how to use this facet. Almost like old E but you cant spam E twice on yourself which this is annoying me(that what I used to do back then) This seems to be good on Marci cores than support since Marci will get 100% lifesteal and damage bonus and your ally only get armour when apply. I got a bit anxiety that have to think of pressing it. I'll try it out as offlane. Good stuff.

I want to experiment with new items on her and see how I like it. Well, Force Staff is still GOAT for me but it got some nerfed when they introduce "leash" that prevent using FT
She is not as strong as before they changed her kits as she is mid. I used to play her as midlaner, she really is strong when 1v1 if you can out smart their mid.

Astonishing Marci mastery, congrats! This hero caught my attention when i returned to dota and holy cow, i love how versatile she is. Because of that i always can play and learn any pos, getting better as a dota player and as a Marci player. Just hit 200 games as her and Archon rank, and your tough road makes a great inspiration! Since you are a melee support, it will be challenge, Keep that in mind. You will be almost useless during lvl1, try not to get hit much cuz after you lvl2-3 you are very strong(so you have hp to fight them if needed)./ Or it will be easy if your core are range attacker. -Play near your core/ help denied creeps -Keep pressure, play near tower(toss them into tower and kill or make them low on hp)/ Fight them if your core are strong. -Block camp/unblock camp and pull if needed./ stacks creep -Secure lotus, gold, and wisdom rune -Always keep eyes on mini map if other lane need help/ tp help them. Basically pay attention to important objectives. That how you win lane stage I suggest you should search for how to lane as supports in general guide that is what I did when started learning heros and core game. Jenkins or BSJ have these guide. Then you learn Marci by playing while you are learning your role and game. But if I ever make one it will be posting on this channel, we'll see! Cheer!
