This was super easy but the formula you give here is for diameter not radius so I had to then figure out which one I was supposed to be using..."do I WANT to mark out the radius or did I want to actually be marking out the diameter"?? The rest was great though; so clear!
Is the bottom lashing needed to keep the tension on the cloth before the ring is screwed down? Was the bottom of the boot cut off after the metal ring was screwed down? Great job, very neat. I have cut my cloth and I am just wondering about the best material for the ring. I have seen them made of lead which would be easy to shape.
Any idea how well this works on oval masts? I currently have it waterproofed, but I'd love to put something like this over the existing seal for protection.
Lea's technique is so clear that I was able to make a perfect boot in 2 hours from beginning to installation - no wrinkles. The addition of the friction tape makes location and securing the upper section simple and accurate - brilliant!!
