Keith and Jen share their homesteading journey and the survival skills they know to help inspire others that they too can cobble together a ramshackle existence and be more self reliant and better stewards of nature.
You’re brave man…have you checked your barrels for any tungsten streaks in that fine classic? Those old guns you’re not supposed to use tungsten or anything harder than lead or bismuth. I’ve wrecked modern choke tubes, rated for tungsten using tungsten. You might have a bunch of burnouts in the front of those barrels. You’ll have to take a flashlight and check. I would tell you to stick to lead.
I'm jelly !!!! I kayak with my friends with all the fancy gear .....but going hard core like that is awesome!!!! I want me and my friends to do the same .....only those who know .....know how cool your trip was !!
Good Day, thank you so much for sharing your video on your GB Hunters Axe. I am thinking to purchase this type of axe for such a purpose and can be used for other axe purposes. Blessings from the Philippines 🇵🇭
I made your mushroom fries in a 400-degree convection oven. Great umami flavor! I was so surprised. Found a bunch of large oysters recently, which I almost didn't harvest because I wasn't sure what I would do with them, but your mushroom fries recipe was perfect. Thank you!
Thank you for this update about your Alone experience! Very generous of you to take the time! You were an admirable 'survivalist' and we enjoyed your camera time! I thought that the squirrel had made you sick because the producers ran a blip on the screen that said squirrels can carry diseases (they named two). Your video sheds more light on other causes for extreme vomiting.
The high quality count on the video makes for some amazing videography Mr. Ramshackle. It really is a huge differance with high video count quality, pixels I think its called.
No one blames you for tapping out. Being that sick with nothing to help of comfort you was not only risky, it must have been pure misery. When you’re that sick all you want is home. Really glad you got medical attention and bounced back. You were entertaining as all heck! Really enjoyed your episodes!
Your stalking style is perfect. Your also a good hunter and excellent shot using the flint and bows. Very very cool fun to watch your channel. You are very inspiring, as well. All bounty abound to Ramshackle Homestead Outdoors with KeithandJen.🇬🇧🍁
A study on raccoon density in rural areas determined that there would be 40 or more per square mile. In urban areas with more food sources there can be upwards of 1000 per square mile. I use white 5 gallon buckets from Walmart and generic 220s. Before going out, I set all my springs on the back deck using a piece of 3/8" braided rope. Drop the folded up trap and bait into the bucket. Everything is easy to carry from the SXS to where I am setting the trap. I cut relatively narrow slots in the bucket offset an inch or so from the handle. For bait really cheap dry catfood mixed with cheap sardines in oil. A big handful of catfood and a can of sardines makes enough for 3 or more sets. I was using dogproof traps but did like signs of a struggle around the traps or dispatching the raccoons with a 22lr pistol and the resulting mess in the SXS. With trap set a little deeper in the bucket, the trap grips behind the head everytime.
