also at the beginning facebook hadnt been invented yet at that point he hacks into the harvard house enrollment files from the school to grab all their pictures and names
I think this film's superiority lies in its refusal to paint clean lines around "good" and "bad" outcomes. Its vivid depiction of obsession for artistic mastery is not casting judgement or moral prescription, but simply presenting a complex picture of the human personal and relational drives that forge it in both Andrew and Fletcher. There are indeed trade-offs for excellence. For all of human history rare individuals have effaced normalcy - and reason - to attain something higher, more meaningful, transcendent. We have no idea whether or not Andrew's sacrifice yields the outcome he seeks, and so we have even fewer means to determine a positive or negative moral-of-the-story. What we do see however is both men finally in sync with each other, physically, artistically, spiritually. Are they heroes or devils? Are all heroes in fact devils? The film doesn't care to tell us.
I clicked on this thinking it was some older video about the movie. This is one of my favorite films as well. Really surprised at how little views this has, even for your sub count. Well done man this is really well edited and written, hope more people stumble upon this video.
You have a spectacular format, and taste for the medium! If I could buy stock in a RU-vid channel I’d buy it in this one, you have a ton of potential with the quality you put out here!
Despite having watched this film once or twice before on streaming platforms, I had the opportunity to go and watch this movie in theaters for its 10th anniversary and I was still on the edge of my seat, if not more. Definitely one of my favorite films of all time, and one of the greatest ever made.
Amazing video, earned my sub. I love this movie, seen it probably 30+ times. I got to watch it in theaters for the first time last night and it was even better. if you've never covered "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind", you should do a video on it.
No joke, I watched this movie because I saw it in a Bocchi the Rock "not my tempo" meme, and after the movie ended, it became one of my favorite movies. It makes it even better when you know JK Simmons went to music school. Miles Teller did great as an anxious student who desperately wants to make a name for himself, but JK Simmons' acting as an abusive disrespectful narcissistic teacher on a constant powertrip was phenomenal. No other actor could play Fletcher. Even if a studio did a movie that is similar Whiplash, the evil teacher wouldn't hold a candle to JK Simmons' performance. I also like that this is a movie that shows that true villains aren't always masked killers evading the police or demonic forces but everyday people who are supposed to guide you but use their position in order to mess with your mind and break and make you into their image and not care if it's hurting you in the long run.
Andrew’s father’s expression as he watches his son go back on stage to play caravan is like an exact parallel to the final scene in the black swan, in which Nina’s mother watches as she sacrifices herself for her art. both movies are actually very similar in that way
